im in the group buy for the newman cams!

im building a head up 1st then building a bottom end...as i dont wanna take apart my current engine....so i bought my mates old 106 gti engine that bent some valves!

what should i do with the whole lot???

porting polishing and skimming head is the obvious...but what else would i wanna do, to see bigger power gains, once cams and and all are in?

should i go for bigger valves? etc

*ps im not mechanically minded lol...so help me out here*

I wouldn't touch the bottom end for now. There's no real point with the PH3 cams. You can change to forged pistons to up the compression ratio a tad, but it's not a lot of bang for your buck. Sticking in tune with the head... If you decide to run iTBs, then the headwork will reap you the rewards.

So in a nutshell: Stick a big valve head on with PH3 cams. Get the inlet changed to iTBs - DTH ones such as KMS are popular. Get a good ECU, loom, new injectors, some sensors, and get everything put together and mapped. Sounds so simple eh? ;)

Well i would still stick some forgies in there while the engine is apart seems pointless taking it apart again :)

was thinking that too!!

so run it by me...bigger valves, skimmed, ported, polished, p+p throttle body for now, ph3s and my existing raceland filter, s'sprint 4 branch, custom centre sect and scorp b'box.

i been told mine is chipped at min, but not 100%, though a guy i kno who remaps cars for a living, said he would take my ecu and check the mapping on it. but if it is chipped or if it isnt, and needs remapped, what sorta power gains etc am i gonna get?
