where in a conventional car you have one throttle body which feeds air to a plennum which supplies air to all cylinders, with throttle bodies you have like trumpets for each cylinder.this will give theengine a lot more response and can feed the cylinder the air it needs.
with tb's you need a aftermarcket ecu which can be very pricy.people reccomend putting cams in and other mods like headwork, manifold, exhaust to get the best out of the engine.
if you do it yourself you could do it for about £1500 but expect to pay more to get a specialised company to do it for you.

1. they allow for a wilder cam to be run in the engine and prevent charge robbing of the cylinders. they are effectively 4 seperate intake systems all with 4 butterflys unlike a normal system which has one large one.
there are no typeical gains as it depends on many factors, especially cam choice and £££, some engines are 150 bhp on them some 200+.
you need stand alone engine management, so dont expect change from 2.5k for cams, ecu, bodies, and mapping thats without fitting.

The noise they make cannot be beaten though.

blimey surely it would be a better option to fitt a turbo/supercharger then wouldnt it instead of running the car cammed with throttle bodies.I mean for the extra cost the gain would be more benifitial? cheers for the help guys much appreciated

Thought about this too but throttle bodies provide direct feeds and Turbos will cost more for maintenance and parts plus the turbo needs to spool up unless your running sequentials, which iv never heard of in a sax
Stick with:
Induction kit
Exhaust
Manifold
Cams
Remap
and then see if you still want bodies after, as Ryan said tho they aint cheap to run properly set up

two totally different characteristics of how the engine will behave though.
the reason most people use TBs is for the way the car performs on cam, and the throttle response as opposed to huge chunks of power from a boosted engine.

yer im just gunna get all the planned mods done such as mani, exhaust, cams and custom remap.
tbh i doubt i would be able to afford throttle bodies anyways being an 18yr old at college i struggle paying for petrol etc so god nos what its gunna be like with cams etc alone.
just got my suspension of my dad for my xmas pressie cant wait to fit , will be awsome! :y:

Thought the same as you mate then sold my first car and got the VTS which is getting a new manifold and zorst fitted just after Crimbo before cams/remap and maybe bodies
Just need to stick for the moment and do the smaller mods first to save up :)

pointless going for cams and remap then getting bodies. means your paing for mapping at least twice. plan things out and do it right the first time. iv wasted too much money in the past changing my mind all the time :P
