Rite, now my snazzy title has got you attention ;)

As some of you may know, im wanting my Mk2 VTR Engine put into my Mk1 VTR as it only has 25k on the clock and a FULL Shitroen Service History..

So, i was wondering how hard it will be to do myself... and what exactly i will need off the old car before i start taking the engine out..

So far i know i will need:

- Engine
- ECU
- Wiring Loom
- Clocks
- Wiring for the clocks?

Anything else i should need, so i know what im taking out??

I know i want the gearbox doin aswell, rather a new one than a old one ;) But that should be a straight swap, its just the wiring with the engine i need to know what exact things il need...

Thankyou in advance my fellow hobbits :detective:

You might need the wiring loom from inside the car - (someone correct me if I'm wrong because I'm not 100%) but I think where the engine loom connects to the main car loom is different between mk1 and mk2's.

So either you'll need to do a bit of wiring to adapt the mk1 loom, or need the mk2 main car loom.

Also, just a thought, couldn't you use your existing mk1 loom and bits, and simply just change over the engine?? as the mk1 vtr and mk2 vtr can't be a lot different ?? I don't know about these but could be an easy solution.

hi mate if your putting mk2 in yours there are only a couple of small looms you need to add to your loom and you will have to work out the wires to the ecu as mk2 is 3plug dependant on what year it is.. early mk2s are single plug so if you get that mk2 then you can plug straight in.
