Hi everyone, I've just bought a Raceland enclosed induction kit and I was wondering if they are hard to fit because mine hasnt come with any instructions and im a first time moder. I have a 99 vtr but the induction kit is for all vtr's really and i'd like to find out more about fitting the induction kit before going out and doing it. anyone know how to do them? :y:

Its for the VTS but as far as i'm aware its the only guide working at the moment.
The kits a bit fiddly to fit as you will probably find out, but take a look at the above topic and you'll get an idea of how its meant to go on.

Well i fitted mine to a 2002 VTS, but i cant imagine there is much difference. And it was very easy!
Basically take out your exsisting airbox, and fit your new induction, if you see Paul_CGMs earlier post i put up a diagram so you can get the gist of things.
Only mounting prob i had was re locating of the power steering resevior, not sure if this is the same on a vtr, if it is, then just re locate it a couple of inches to the right of the slam panel... job done! :y:

no probs bud!
Basically the only problems i encoutered were having to make brackets to mount the scoop and i had to buy a couple extra jubilee clips because the kit didn't have enough.
Oh and also the rubber pipe provided in the kit was ill fitting, had to cut a "V" shape out of one end and jubilee clip it together!

i didnt cut a v out of mine !
definally need to find another two j-clips before you start as you on get one with the kit, but you get the jist of things in that guide.
once you've fiddled about its ok, the scooop is the hardest thing, attaching to slam panel,,,oh we love cable tie bodges ;)

The rubber piping fitted the scoop end fine but the engine end it was too small for. It was a small narrow "V" shaped (nothing major) which once i'd jubilee clipped closed up and fitted nicely... still would have been better without the hassle lol :)

Good guide that
So the raceland and green air kits are basically the same apart from the colour of the carbon box?
All i want is the box supplied for this as id get a completely different induction hose and air filter lol, good improvement over standard tho :y:

i cable tied mine to the rad locating clips and then used (ready for it) velcro strips to attach the upper lip of the airbox to the inner edge of the slam panel...works a treat...
another tip is youll find that the hose supplied is a little too short, and even if you can make it fit...when you boot it it'll heat up, collapse in on itself and kill your power...
use the corregated part of the std induction set up and plumb one side (the only side that will fit like a glove) into the ali pipe that comes with the kit, then attach the black hose with the kit to the other side (chop it more or less in half 1st) and then using the j clips you bought because the kit didnt come with enough - bolt it all in place and there you are...
if its a mk1 im pretty sure you dont need to relocate the powersteering res... not sure on mk2s but there should've been a stepped bracket in the pack that lets you do this!

just fitted the induction kit but theres one tiny problem because there is a hose on the back of the standard air filter which conects to the idle valve. what happens with that pipe, do you just leave it open or is there something that needs to be done to it?
