Have you de-cat at all? My girlfriends mum gets pee'd off with my car, because the dog goes crazy when he hears my car, lol. Screw what the neighbours think, its not like your doing anything illegal, are you?!?!

on track days people often purchase a bung to quieten down the exhaust. Fit that drive down the road.. take it off :) Problem solved

Technically speaking it is, its just not allowed over 98d/b i think, maybe 96, something like that. Thats like comparing the standard noise of a yaris to a lambo LP640, one can be noisier than the other.

Rep to the OP for actually acknowledging there is a problem, and for wanting to find a solution to it.
Do you have any other mods?
If you can, try to minimise the noise as you approach the house, turn off the stereo, I assume you don't bounce off the limiter all the time, drive slowly and keep the revs right down.
Why not talk to Ashley? Do they have any noise parameters published?
If you are really concerned, why not ask your local council or VOSA for advice?

is it a straight through system?
I once got a loud/raspy systems noise altered by putting in what was known as a booster. Effectively it was just a smaller version of a silencer. But it made the world of difference.

Can you go to a local Exhaust place and ask them if they can make you a Removeable Baffle?

I wouldn't let myself be inconvenienced by neighbours TBH.
I'd just go out and buy them all ear defenders and tell them to like it or lump it.
I've got similar probs. Where my garage is located, is right in the middle of a group of houses that are all occupied by old people. And when I turn up at 2-3am in the morning or leave for work at 7am, they get annoyed.
I even had a note left on one of my cars when I worked in Halfords (back in the day)
Its the type of cars I drive, sorry. Just cos I choose not to drive a standard Vauxhall Agila with 13" wheel trims etc, doesn't mean they can tell me what to do ! lol

Thats bullshit, whos to say what loudness is? such as your loudness could be the equivilant to my quietness, everyones loudness sences are diffrent and nobody walks around with a Db ready!

Suppose you could try putting the cat back on, but you wouldn't want to do that would you? lol
As someone previously said give Ashley a bell, see what they advise.

Law states an exhuast becomes illegal when an officer decides it is causing a nuisance, be careful if you piss them off, if they report you and the copper that comes is a bit arsey he can make you remove it.

But theres cars such as a ferari (sp) i saw the other day that was standard and that was louder then anything ive heard and i mean it was loud, so what would they do about that, thats how the car comes as standard?

VOSA roadside check may get you on this one, however a section 59 is always a good way of finding out whether it's too loud.

Wasnt being a cock btw was just wondering.
My mate got a section 59 for his exhaust being to loud rung up VOSA i think and they had no regualtions as such under section 59 for loudness, that was a year or so back, they did take his car to get a dB reading though, and it was ALOT quieter then it should of been, so the section 59 got removed

Sure the maximum noise level it can be is 98 decibels.

Thats because the car is built like that. And they cant change it. But with a modified car its an added extra.
But, most coppers hate modified cars because we are all "boy racers" so they tend to be a bit GAY about it lol.
