Hey all

I dont want to be asking the same questions, so being doing alot of searching, and only posting because I cant find the answers to the 2 questions below. I have a very early Mk2 engine now, with the Mk1 loom that uses the single plug ECU :clapping: .. I also just 5 minutes ago purchased a Mk1 VTS ECU, Keys and that black box thing, all from the same car but a different car to the engine.

So in my list of things I have so far.

Engine - From one car.
ECU, Keys, Black Box - From a different car.
Brand spanking VTS radiator.

My question is about the fuel return, I've done search, I've also spoken to a couple of people in person that have done the VTR to VTS conversion and they are telling me that there is no need to the fuel return, and the car will run fine without it?

What do you pro's think?

Also, gearbox... I was just going to run engine off the VTR gearbox, guessed I'd lose some performance over the VTS gearbox.. what do you suggest? I can get the VTS box for an additional £40 if its worth it.

Need as many posts before tomorrow morning, because going to pick the engine up, and need to know whether or not to get the gearbox at the same time.

Cheers

Lorrie

The car will run without the return, but you're better off getting it. If your car is an early blacktop vtr then the return will be there, better to use it. Without it the car will use slightly more fuel and won't run as good as it could.

For £40 you hsould get the vts 'box, you will notice the difference over a vtr 'box. You could sell your vtr 'box and make your money back.

ive done a vts convedrsion on my vtr and i just blocked the fuel return pipe and mine runs fine, although i did have a bit of work to get the pipe blocked as the petrol kept leaking out the end, in the end i jus done it with gasket sealer then a bit of araldite over the top to make it harden!! and my car runs perfect!!

nt really sure about the gearbox situation however i think the final drive is the same in both vtr and vts boxes therfore they r the same box essentially!! dont quote me on this tho!!

no, the vtr gearbox is one of the longestof the ma box range.
better off with the vts box for normal road driving.

vtr ans s box use completely different final drive.

if yu want to blobk fuel return off put a screw/bolt into the return hose with some glue on the threads.
it will run smoother with a return though.

I dont mind putting a return in, as long as I knew the best way to do it.. and the appropriate materials..

just use the bits off the vts your mising. if you get both r and s fuel system diagrams from citroen you'll see which parts you neeed.

Recommend fitting using the return feed, as i do alot of conversions matey and have mapped a few aswell and have found they do feel as if they run fine, but in all with a lambda probe in the exhaust when driving their is a differnce, it runs rich low down, but high end it starts to lean off and can eventually cause damage.
So for all the time it takes to run another pipe i would do it as when you cam the engine you will notice it more matey.
As for the box i recommend a vts one buddy, as the vtr one is only good on a 1/4 mile track way the long ratios matey.

Hope this helps ya out a bit.

Thanks all for you replies.

I have the VTS box now.. picked it all up on Saturday.. engine and gearbox and a stock airbox.

I have to get my head around this fuel return.. does anyone have microfiche for Saxo VTR and VTS so I can work out required bits for ordering.

Thanks
