alternators are quite expensive actually..
I have seen them between £150 - £200.
Halfords can order them in, try german swedish and french aswell.

I think the biggest one you can get is a 90A

you can fit just about any alternator just need to mount it correctly and obviously have it doing the same thing as far as the two positives and the chassis earth go

what do you need a bigger one for ?
And would a bigger battery, from.. say a diesel/auto/heavy duty battery not do the job?

the saxo alternator is actually a very good one, look at uprating the battery to chassis earth and the charging lead from the alternator to the battery and then look at a better battery or a split charging system with a second battery

i've got a heavy duty bosch battery, the biggest available for the saxo, not sure if the alternator is charging it quick enough or not, i've got a pretty powerful sound set up and it drains alot of power!!! i wanna get a second battery but first i have to improve the alternator first right?

like Scott said, try upgrading the earth strap etc and see how uch that helps. Will be quite surprised the difference it will make.

how can i upgrade or improve the earth strap?

get some 4 guage or preferably 0 guage cable and use it to replace the battery negative to chassis lead and the charging lead from the alternator to the positive terminal of the battery

by changing the lead from the alternator to the postive side of the battery, how would this improve things? coz the alternator is limited to push out a certain amount of voltages and amps to the battery right?

the leads on the alternator will carry the voltages, they do do their job but by changing them to thicker leads and upgrading the earths you allow the alternator to flow more current and flow it more efficently. The standard leads are thin and of reasonable quality and can only carry so much at one time. Basically your allowing the alternator and battery to flow more charge more efficently

i've heard from a pro in car audio jou can let somebody make it more heavy(put more copper wire around it) but i don't know where. for a battery thats more heavy optima or the battery of a truck.
