fuel pressure, walbro pump fitted

Fitted my new walbro 255 or 225 pump today, cant remember which of hand!

anyway...its to a 2001 vts engine, although car has a 97 vtr fuel tank. will i now have fuel pressure issues?

car wouldnt start today although it would cough n splutter now n again..but never fired up.

was fine on the normal vts fuel pump prior to this...will i have to change anything else? cheers

Shouldn't cause any pressure issues - as the FPR at the rail should sort that out.

Was this the one you got off of Sybez? Does it replace the standard one?

Only thing i could imagine being a problem is if it needs more electricity to power it and the wiring isn't perfect. But TBH that shouldn't be an issue. Might be worth changing the filter for the £5 or so it'll cost.

yeah thats the one matey, is ssc down by the way?

replaces std one but you have to take std one apart for it to fit inside it.

but instead of doing all that i had sybez' whole unit and he's having mine since he's going for a swirl setup etc he needs a std item :)

i dont think the wiring was an issue as it worked on his car and mine was fine...may change fuel filter though...

i think the car may have just been gay this mornig. usually it takes a full battery charge for it to start in the cold weather...

If it worked fine in his - it should work fine in yours. Might just be a cold start issue with the KMS. Try it on a warmer day, or keep tapping the throttle to try and get it started and see how it idles once it does.

In theory it shouldn't cause any issue with pressure, unless its not drawing in the fuel properly in the first place. So more than likely just down to the KMS being a pain in the arse ( i know mine hates when the water temp is anything under 20 degrees, which is most mornings)

just unhooked the fuel connection to the rail n primed the pump and it pissed out no problems. will give it half hour to evaporate before i try again!

the car coughs n splutter like it wants to start. not sure what else i can do? if its just down to it being so cold. usually it has problems starting like yours but will go eventually. this time is isnt :(

if its kms related have you tried downloading your corrections since the widebands been working?

Sounds like cold start hasnt been set up, get the laptop out and increase the richness when temps are low

Corrections don't apply to idle, or temp corrections :(
If it was fine before - no point in messing around with the cold start figures, as it should work the same after as before.

Forgot to mention earlier - something obvious - if you took the fuel lines off, it'll take a couple of ignition on/offs for the pump to prime and the pressure build up in the lines again.

yeah i left the pump on prime for a good few seconds each time...

i think its just down to the cold start. im gonna lob in a set of spark plugs. done about 2800miles since new so may havve taken some abuse. pretty much all hard driving too.
