It should give you the option to "troubleshoot" when it gives you the error, click that and then, it should bring up a menu, where it will do some tests, after its done, click repair.

Do the other pc/s in your house work with msn?

try deleting HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MSNMessenger by going to run and typing regedit

then install the latest version of the messenger :y:
