Hi, i have myself a saxo VTR engine with ecu and everything, i have rebuilt it in the last few months (looks nice) but i have just sent my ecu off to be decoded as i have been told when i got the engine, that i will need this done to run the engine.

I am fitting the engine into my pug 205 and will be wiring the engine loom direct to my current loom, what is a carb engine, so i have not current ecu or immo stuff, so should be just a few live wires and int wire, oil / water temp, ect.

So main question is, will it start on my key now the ecu is decoded.

Thanks ...

Can you clarify, are you running the new VTR engine on carbs, or are you using the injection that is on the VTR?

The current engine is a 1.1 TU1 engine running a twin chock carb, So i only have basic wiring on the car.

The engine I will be using a TU5 1.6 with injection system, and i will be wiring in to the current loom.

I got told by the guy i got the engine from that i needs to be decoded to be used like this, so i found someone that done it for me for £85 + £8 postage. Hope ive not wasted my money, as i get it back today when the postman turn up with it.

I did try to use it before but i was getting no spark and the fuel pump was not working, i even tried to feed pin 10 (this thats right off the top of my head) on the relay down to earth, i got the fule pump working but still no spark.

Right ...
I got the ecu back this morning but the engine will still not start!

The relay for the fuel pump, ignition coil, and lambda heater has still not pulled in, so i still get no spark and fuel.

I know the relay is good and i have also checked the wire loom.

I get the first relay to pull in, so i have power to feed to the injectors, and idle solenoid.

Am i missing something or doing something wrong?

Any help at all would be grateful.

Just so i know, before i email the guy that decoded the ecu.

Should that be all i need to have done the make the engine start ?

Thanks

Right ...
just for anyone who mite get trouble like this ...

I have found it, it was two things,

The first was the crank sensor on the fly wheel, i have no idea why, but it had a spacer on it, once removed it still missed the fly wheel but i got the spark and everything else i should of,

but then all i had was the engine running for a few mins max before it stopped,

So this is the second bit of trouble, i found the fault to be the fuel pump was the powerful enough, so i need to replace, it, but the saxo pump will not fit in the peugeot 205 tank, so i am going to need to find a in-line pump to fit under the bonnet, and a little bit of advice on that would be great.

use a 205 gti pump, my 205 uses one on a 16v tu engine and its fine for fuel.
