what are the advantages of heat wrapping my exhaust? i have a standard manifold with the cat in it and after seeing the odd car with the full system wrapped i was wondering what difference it would make to mine if i wrapped it from the manifold back?

I know that wrappng the manifold is meant to keep the heat inside it which makes the gasses flow through it quicker... I'm guessing it's the same principle for the rest of the exhaust?

basically by wrapping the manifold you are keeping the heat in thus improve the flow of gasses slightly, but the maain advantage imo is the fact that it keeps the engine bay cooler as stainless mani's get real hot.... real fast,

however if i remember correctly you can't heatwrap a standard cast iron mani as there is a chance it can crack due to heat build up

i dont mean wrapping the standard manifold, i mean wrap the rest of the SS exhaust

wouldnt be worth it for the cost of the heat wrap

i was gonna wrap ma standard manifold but ive got a turbo bolted onto mines. think thats a bad idea then? cheers

wrapping up to the first expansion box/silencer in the system would help maintain the effects of pulse tuning. I did it on mine, not sure if it made any more power, but I had the wrap lying about anyway.

Stevie, it should be fine I think, plenty turbo cars run lagging on the mani. As turbos are powered by gas flow and heat, it will have a (perhaps small) effect on reducing spool time.

Other option is ceramic coating.

Its not worth wrapping your exhaust as it would cost to much and it will get so wet and dirt.Plus if your still using your standard manifold it would be worthing spending the money on a new one.
