My heater has been blowing out luke warm air for weeks now, so ive decided to have ago at changing the stat.

First of all, do I need some gasket sealing stuff ( like instant gasget ) or will i get away with the rubber one that came with my new unipart stat ?

secondly, do i have to drain the whole system, or is it a case of just removing the stat housing slapping in the new one and fill up and bleed ?

lastly, what order do i tighten the bleed points ? is it stat, heater housing on bulk head then rad ?

Thanks..

You will have to drain the whole system , ihad to when i did one on a fiesta and a 500sel. Both times i have used gasket paper (available from motor spares shops). I don't think it matters what order you tighten them up, never told anything like that at college.

no you dont need to drain the hole system but let i bit of water out the drain plud on the rad will stop loads n loads of water going over your gearbox i was going to put instant gasket on my but i have changed my thermostat 3 times and thay have never leaked when i havnt used instant gasket bleed it in this order rad, thermostat housing then heater hose
