This may sound fairly stupid, but i'm abit of a novice to tuning cars, whats the crack about these manifolds?! i've been told to get a 4-2-1 manifold but i don't actually get what i'd be buying and what it does?!:mental: :ponder:

read the 'tech talk' section on www.gmcmotorsport.co.uk which goes into detail regarding tuning and engine components. :)

The GMC site does go into very technical detail which may go over your head.
Basically, the manifold is a series of 4 pipes that lead from the engine, and connect into 1 pipe that connects to the exhaust. It flows burnt exhaust fumes after combustion in the engine and gets rid of the gas to the exhaust to be expelled out of the car.
Performance exhaust manifolds de-strict the normal standard manifold allowing a more free-flow of air and thus slightly increasing the performance. It allows the car to breathe better.
I've got a Raceland 4-2-1 manifold, and notice a good difference (especially when used with a performance exhaust, induction kit etc).

IMHO on a 1.1 there isn't much point changing to an uprated manifold!

so you think that it'll actually be pointless upgradin the manifolds on a 1.1??

Depends how long you want to keep that engine, how much you want to spend on it, what other mods you etc. At the end of the day its your money, if dont mind spending £150+ for a small gain then go for it

You'll get a nice noise from it, a small difference maybe, but it's not gonna add 20bhp or anything...
