dont know if this is a stupid question... but does anyone know if there is any difference in sound between a 4-2-1 manifold and a 4-1 manifold?

You wont really notice any difference i wouldnt have thought mate.
The air has all equalised by the time it gets to the tail pipe anyway.

If you had to engines the same with the same systems from the manifold back, then rev'd them together you might hear a slight difference but I doubt it really.
The only difference your notice is in the torque curve between the two as they effect the engines breathing slightly.
4-2-1 low to mid range gains
4-1 mid to high range gains

The Janspeed manifold setup on my car with a magnex back box is very quiet. So I wouldent have thought it made any difference at all.

The VTS comes with a 4-2-1 mainfold form the factory all be it in two parts and in heavy cast iron but a desent 4-2-1 will slightly change the note if thats all you changed but it will be very slight
