Right i have a 2000 x reg saxo, and its been bugging me recently as to whether it has the 90 or 98bhp engine? As i got told it was only post 2001 with the 98 bhp engine. Whereas i thought it was all mk 2's that got it....

Help someone, its probs been asked a million times but its much appreciated

Been covered loads of times my friend. If in doubt use the search button, or even look at the FAQ on the top of this page.
Heres your answer though;

And btw, I have a 2000 x-reg MK2, mine is a 98bhp model. These were the 'prototype' models so to speak. They were the first 98bhp on the market and came out in around Oct 2000.

Which one does yours look like then?

Promise you as well that my car was first registered early Nov 2000, so x-reg, and is 98bhp. Would be very surprised if yours is different, as x-reg is also 2001 and therefore in effect 'post 2001'.
Though not doubting what your saying either.

easiest way to tell is by where the oil dip-stick is. if its at the right hand side off the manifold is the 90bhp model. if its between the manifold then its the 98bhp . check the link posted for the pictures off the engines and you will notice the dip-stick is in diffrent locations
