i know the cam question has been asked over and over again and i used the search option but cant find anything!
so heres the question can i run piper 285 cams on a mapped standered ecu
what else do i need to change verniers, springs, solid lifters or can they be run on standered application ones once they are in good nick?
for 285's do you need standalone ecu and bodies/carbs as i was told by a supplier of the cam
would piper 270 be worth my while?
this is for A 16V ENGINE!!!
THANKS I KNOW TOAD/KAMRACING AND A FEW OTHERS WILL B
ABLE TO ANS THIS

piper 285s are not a solid grind cam.
270 is also shite.
you dont need standalone/bodies for a 285 grind as far as im aware.

piper 270 and 285 are about the same, there are a
bit different in the powerband, 285 got a bit wider
duration and lift.
cause they are both not a Hi-CAM (under 270deg),
you can keep your original valve spring, Hydraulic
lifter if there are in good condition. verniers will be a
plus when you tune the CAM.
you can using any CAM with stock ECU, but it
depend your garage's favor, there are lot's of C2
monster with Turbo and keep the stock one, because
local garage support these kind of remap.:y:

eoey, as far as i know there is nowhere over here that will remap the standard ecu, so unless you're headin to the uk to get it done you're gonna have to make do with a piggyback or standalone. It would work out cheaper to use a dastek unichip to sort the map, as westward can map them. would work out cheaper overall

The standard pulleys are verniers so no point "upgrading"
I would get a dastek probably to go with 285s. No scrap that i'd order catcams 708s in the first place ;)

as per da fag, 708s miles better imo than pipers.
i dont like the advertising that missleads people with '285's
