lol severe lack of replies lol, best bet is KAM racing he has a good site
http://www.kam-racing.co.uk/index.php they sell supersprint one for the saxo has some very good reviews (is NOT stainless though)
depends what your after mate, from what your saying steer away from the large bore ones 4in plus... maybe something with a silencer still in it, peco are loud, im not sure what mine is but its not too loud the ashley ones are also very loud
tbh myself i would look for a used one off here in the for sale section some really decent exhausts come up at good prices many with lifetime gaurentee's
powerflow could do you a custom one im sure they could do to a budget too and can ask for a quiet one
good luck buddy!

A few people on here vote for the ashley system, including me. Its very good value for money and one of the best for performance.
And dont listen when people tell you they are very loud cus theyre not. At least mines not. Mines a twin box system and its got a real deep barble but its not loud an offensive.

Half the price, as good, if not better performance, same life span, better sound;)

Ha ha got beat to it
For me there is only to types of exhaust that work well on a saxo
Ashley - excellent noise good gains.
Supersprint - Not as much noise but excellent gains
If i was to do it all over again defo go for the Ashley

I have a Magnex cat-back 3.5" tip and love it. Rimstyle are selling them for £270 which is the same as I paid for mine and dont regret buying it, not too loud but when u give it some they sound really good.

Powerflow with a 3.5" tailpipe with 2 silencers in, that's what I originally had and although it was rather quiet it had a lovely tone to it but I recently had 1 of the silencers out as I wanted a bit more noise! A lot of people slate Powerflow but I rate 'em, good performance gains and if REVS magazines results are reliable then it is the best you can get for a Saxo, and they look & sound nice, can't grumble :)

Dont wanna turn this into a slanging match but powerflow are not a performance exhaust. They are purely made to look nice and sound nice.
He said he wanted to add power and not too loud. Not loose power and have it excessively loud!
If they were any good they would be used on high performance engines in motorsport. But theyre not...
The likes of ashley, supersprint, piper etc have given proven results in grasstrack and other motorsports.
Oh and then there is the small fact that a poweflow system lost 4bhp on my old escort...
So stick with the brands you know and you wont go far wrong:y:

I reccomend a supersprint from Kam just because I have one lol.
I do like the look of the Scorpion offerings though, look to be a very good build quality.

Brand 'Cat' Removed Power Gain+/Loss- Torque Gain+/Loss-
Powerflow NO +4.4bhp +1.4 ft/lb
Ashley YES +4.4bhp +1.2 ft/lb
Magnex NO +3.2bhp -1.4 ft/lb
Scorpion YES +3.2bhp -0.4 ft/lb

At the end of the day it all boils down to personal opinion, I'm happy with what I have as I'm sure you're happy with what you have. It's just one of those things :)

Mate, get a life.
Powerflow are shit! Ive seen the results for myself on my own car! I'll be the fist to admit that i thought powerflow were great when i had my first car...
Then i got one and it lost me 4BHP!
I know i'd rather believe my own eyes than some shitty, glossy chav magazine full of plastic, fibre glass, dolled up crappy cars.

In his defence some of the powerflow division actually make good exhausts, but there aint many of them

Exactly, SOME of them. Most of them are just pikeys who's knowledge of engines stretches to "vroom vroom".
At my local powerlow dealer all they ask when making an exhaust is, "how loud do you want it?"
And IF that magazine article is true, they probably had the top bloke from powerlow to make the exhaust. And granted, i expect Mr. Powerlow knows his stuff!

Best saxo exhaust bar none?
BTB.
I've got one for sale for around your budget! Cost twice that new.
Aron
11th March 2008, 16:30
btb is no good unless your running at vts or vtr with descent power. thats what i think anyway.
/on the powerflow side, they make a good exhaust but they can sound alrite sometimes but most sound rubbish. They wont do any performance gains either. where did you get those figures from?

The thing with magnex is that they hardly make any noise and sound almost like standard, but they are definitely good for performance!
And the look of them are a bit like marmite, but at the end of the day performance is what matters. Well it is to me anyway. Secondly noise, then finally looks.

Magnex sound standard lol

That was mine when it used to have the magnex on. Shit me, if it was any louder i'd need to wear earplugs.

My mates got one on his VTR with a straight through centre section and its very quiet!
If your stood in front of the car and it drives towards you, all you hear is the engine noise.
And even when your behind it you can barely hear the exhaust.
If you think thats loud you should have heard mine! Straight piece of tube from my 4-2-1 all the way to the back of the car! Lol

That was with a silenced centre section. Cammed VTS with manifold so guess that made it loud but trust me exhaust was loud, popped and banged like fook. Wouldn't want anything louder to be honest.
Coonper
11th March 2008, 21:51
Ahh, with it being a VTS it would probably push more air anyway i expect Lol
The manifolds also tend to make tu engines fairly loud.
My mates has still got standard manifold and its got a cat, so maybe thats why...

I so wish I had got a full system
anyone got any figures on gains with a piper full system?

4th April 2008, 08:53
nice bump
as for the powerflow power debate, they are custom exhuasts built to your spec so every single one will be different (bore size, silencers, number of back boxes etc) so saying they are shit for performance is too much of a generalisation
my car is on the rollers tomorrow with a straight through powerflow, the results will be interesting! my new supersprint centre section with magnex should be on in a week and abits time so i might stick it on the rr to see how they compare

i'm going to plump for a supersprint centre section and piper back box from kam racing. that will come to around £220 i think. will leave you some spare cash towards a raceland mani as well

on a vts this set up is loud
as a demonstration i parked next to my mate in a car park
so like 2 or 3 foot away (there quiet wide spaces)
and left it running
and it was vibrating his car
it was a nice note
and popped a fair bit
havent herd it with the 4 branch yet(in the garage getting it fitted)
but i think itll be quite wild lol

piper, supersprint, btb and ashely.
All used on performace cars at some stage, proved to show respectable gains.
if i was on a budget it would be ashley tbh.
