Hi guys just to let you all know this is my first thread on this site and am therefore a 'newbie' !!! right heres one for all you saxo tech' gods, i have a 2000 furio which HAS 40000 MLS. It had an oil leak @left hand side of the cylinder head gasket (if your lookin at the engine) so as it was due for a timing belt change and service i done the head gasket while i was there-once everything was back in place i started it up just letting it warm up gently on idle to bleed the coolant system when cough-cough-fart, ran like a bag of nipples and has done ever since, and when it does decide to start (only if the plugs have bin left to dry out) there is a very loud sucking noise coming from the idle speed control valve/stepper motor which has been removed and cleaned too. I immediatly rechecked timing and to my horror found it had jumped 3 teeth. I reset timing and turned the engine by hand to check for tight spots but no faults there, i carried out a compression check an all pots were the same-14bar which rules out any bent valves/gasket/compression issues. Next i checked fuel supply even had injectors out, with engine turning over-they were doin their thing bootiful, i had the coilpack out with the plugs in it turning it over and they were doin their thing too although with them refitted every attempt at starting is resulting in severly wetted plugs and a very strong smell of fuel at the exhaust tail pipe . Bear with me guys, so i went to citroen and asked if owt were common with these saxos after tellin them all of this and they said if youve had the inlet manifold off the little orange o-rings givup when youve had the manifold off so replace them. Seemingly when the inlet manifold is 'leaking' the map sensor senses a vacuum drop simulating a part or opened throttle causing too much fuel demand, so with these replaced i gave it another go, SAME FUCKIN THING!!!!!!! an engine requires fuel to burn, (im gettin that), it needs to have a source of ignition(im also getting that) and the mechanicals all need to work in sequence which again, it all is as timing, compression etc has all been checked a hundred times. Anyone any ideas at all cos im rapidly runnin out!
