for a long while now my vts has been sat in the garage, it turns over yet it wont spark.
a few people have said the timing could be out, but got it done by a bloke who restore and rebuilds old cars.
ive been told that the timing could be 180 degrees out, and this is why my vts is not running.
could this be correct?

doubt it. you'd just alter the firing order, and it's a vts so has a wasted spark ignition so will fire on whichever cylinders are ready for combustion. if it was parked up for a long time i'd look at draining the fuel and putting some fresh fuel in.

i took a sample of the fuel, and it burnt, but not as amazing as i expected.
ill give that a try, had been sitting in the garage for about 4 months.

4 months isn't that much.
does it turn over?
does it try and fire up at all?
does the immobiliser light come on and go off as it should or does it flash?
is there fuel at the rail?
is there sufficient fuel? You should leave the car with a full tank when leaving it, otherwise water builds up.
is there a spark(immobiliser more or less answers this Q)
is there compression?

does it turn over? it turns over, just wont ignite
does it try and fire up at all? ill turn it over it pop then thats it
does the immobiliser light come on and go off as it should or does it flash?it flashes, but it did it before, i had it running.
is there fuel at the rail?yes
is there sufficient fuel? You should leave the car with a full tank when leaving it, otherwise water builds up.id say quater of a tanke
is there a spark(immobiliser more or less answers this Q)yes i have a spark
is there compression?no, but i cant see why it shouldnt

you 100% there's a spark?
why is the immobiliser light flashing, is the ecu unlocked?
how can you tell there's no compression?
are you using the accelerator to start it? try starting without any throttle.
is it a standard car? have you checked the wiring, sure a mouse hasn't eaten any in the engine bay?

100% on sparl
the ECU is unlocked
done a compression test
using no accelerator.
wiring is fine

what were the results of the compression test? if they was none then there's your problem lol

sweet FA, but why am i getting none?
in the pub tonite was saying, it could be piston rings, highly unlikey all for would have gone, second, damaged head, im going towards damaged head.

Was it fine when you parked it up though, or did you do some work on it since it last ran? sounds like major valve problems, cambelt related possibly. piston rings being fucked would lower compression but it would still run ok. to totally lose compression is something very wrong.

bottom end was shagged, took it out, replaced.
well, ive been offered a working head for £50, im tempted to take mine off, which will tell me if mines knakcered and replace with this other one.
anything to look for when taking the head off.
youve been really helpful mate :y:

Valve timing could be 180 degrees out, as you say. That would give you no compression.
