Mates got a mint condition 106 gti silver W reg with 73,000 on the clock and been superchipped n tht (rapid) wanting 1500 ono (movi ng to spain)

i have my beloved mk2 Saxo 51 plate with 48,000 on the clock and needs a clutch and a service soon,and it was a cat D write off (bonnet and bumper

he asked me tonight if i would consider a swap of somekind?


im only 17 but i can afford to insure this gti

what do you guys think i should do??

vtrs are great cars but even a vts cant compare to a gti, they are all around better and vtr/s are common where as gtis are quite rare.

my insurance is 3800 for my gti but i wouldnt think twice about paying it even again next year i like the car so much

i dont know y but i just preffer the saxos for looks and for some reason i preffer the dash board in the saxo's aswell personal pref but the insurence seems to high for some one my age (18)

....i agree with saxoaeee...the interior and dash looks dated and old and the front of the car ! ..the saxo looks more modern than the 106.

why would he want to swap cars if hes moving to spain? sounds bit dodgy to me mate ive seen gti go for around £2800 in the state your talking about...shouldnt it be worth even more though if it has all them specs you described..

id check inurance when i was 20 with 1 year no claims a vts was 1500 TPFT,

apart from it been a faster car, its worth ALOT more than ur saxo, which is cat d, needs a clucth £150+... if you could afford the insurance the gti at that low price is worth it alone.

£3800 insurance a yea on a gti, fkn that £300 a month are you rich or daft

this was a rough term saying 200 by the way folks didnt want a big fuss over it, hes swapping because his younger brother likes the look and the feel of a vtr and he can get insured on a vtr he just wants this 106 gone he is my good mate and woudnt do anything dodgy

and yes i agreee with the dash comments about 106's they look dated but its a stunning car lol,

for insurance they want 2700 fully comp and im only 17 with 2 years driving experiance(scooter) plus i live in quite a good area that has very very low crime rating

aye me and my brother pay, it was 4000 for the car and 3800 insurance
got it bought off my dad and he gave us 2000 towards the insurance, but my brother nolonger pays its just my car now

i never said it in a sarcy way i was just stating my opinion on it all.

if the guy is a mate then its a good deal tbf. if its some random person thats offering you it then i would take every precaution to make sure the car is as sound as the guy says it is.

Holy shite!! £3800 on insurance....and to think I moaned when my renewal came in at £350!!! LOL!!!

I really couldn't justify paying out over £300 a month on insurance..how ever nice the car was...
