After a moment of madness, and almost selling the vts, ive decided i cant let it go, and am gonna put a bit of money into it and get it running great. So this is where it starts i guess. I've been flicking through the likes of hiflow heads etc and seeing whats available and sort of came up with a little shopping list. I'd kinda like a bit of pointers from anyone that knows a bit about heavy engine tuning as i'm only really learning my way around engines:p

The car is mainly for everyday and fast road use, with the odd trackday/dragday from time to time.

Anyway, here's my engine spec so far;
K&N induction kit
Supersprint 4-2-1
Supersprint Race only centre section and backbox

Here's what i've been looking into;
C2 16v head with bigger valves
C2 R2 high lift cams (which i already have)
Uprated valve springs
Ported and polished inlet/exhaust valves
Ported and polished throttle body
3 angle valve seats
Solid lifters
Forged High compression pistons
Get the bottom end balanced
Lightened and balanced flywheel
Uprated oil pump
Baffled sump
Dastek unichip

Probably eventually head down the route of throttle bodies after all that has been done, but will see once ive gotten that far.

Then obviously the likes of new cambelt and water pump, new head bolts, new headgasket (would it be woth my while going for a thinner one to increase compression more?) when reassembling it.

So this is where i need your help. Is there anything there you wouldn't do, and why? Or anything else you would add to the list, and why?

TBs and a standalone would be one of the first things i'd do. Especially as they come into their own once you fit the uprated cam

the reason i didnt want to go for TB's just yet is due to the fact that i've heard they idle very lumpy. I know the car is gonna idle lumpy with the cams anyway, but would throttle bodies not make it worse? I drive through rush hour traffic in dublin twice a day 5 days a week.

No they wont :)

A good map will see you mapping just as well if not better than standard :)

Cool, thanks guys

Never heard anyone recommend going for throttle bodies as the first thing tho. Is it not usually the last thing to be done?

Well its one of the most exspensive so tends to get left until the "end" of a project.

My advise is buy the big bits first
ECU
TB's
Head

Then the smaller bits later

throttle bodies will help the idle. It usually idles worse on lumpy cams on std single inlet.
