i have been offered a vts engine with 80k
gearbox
wiring loom
unlocked ecu with key
driveshafts
all for £350
i have no intentions of changing yet but it could be a good thing to work on for year or so until i can afford the insurance
is this price any good?

its about an average price mate. have you heard it running? is it out of a mk1?
a year is plenty of time to re-build an engine (budget depending).

Is it still in the car? If so get the seller to run it for a good couple of mins before you hand over the cash

^^ but make sure they run it from cold and check the usual things when buying a new car.
imo id try and find things wrong with it and then knock him down on the price

its from a mk2 but unsure on the year
i think if i were to buy it id defo want to hear it running before, it is still in the car at the moment

If you know the person then its worth asking for service history

i dont know the person, i saw he was breaking the car from a kit he had for sale so i asked about the engine, but i suppose i could ask about the service history

Its worth it, at least then you will have some idea of how its been treated.

get him to throw in the radiator and fan and throttle cable and that would be about right providing all is running good.
