Well, some of you may know, that i have a VTR engine sat in my garage with 24k or something on the clock, today iv been thinking about selling it and getting a VTS Engine.
Well, heres the question, with the VTR engine been a MK2 engine, with different ECU and whatnot (3 plug) and my car been MK1, the engines changed at a certain year.
The VTS Engine didnt get upped in BHP or anything, so i was wondering if the ECU actually changed with the VTS, or would i be able to put a newer VTS engine into my Mk1 VTR, without changing all the interior wiring, or would i need one from the same year? same as with the VTR engine

Car wiring stayed the same, its the engine wiring that changed over the years.
You'll need to swop to the S loom for the S engine!

As quick said, as long as you got the right loom for the engine "and car" example if you get a gti engine you will need a VTS loom for either the mk1 or mk2 engine,
Also probs an ecu unlock. If you use a gti engine you will also need a VTS crank sensor.

but if i get a late mk2 engine, with the loom and ECU and whatnot, would it match straight upto the interior loom, because wont the digital dials be needed? or can i run the mk1 anologs?

yeh, i was wanting a furio for a trade, because more people are intrested in swapping a furio for a VTR, than a old VTR for a new VTR...
but iv only had 1 offer, and that was a lad from brighton offering me a 1.6 body kitted focus with 135k on the clock lol.
So if i got a 3 plug S engine, interior wiring would still need doing :/
Hard to find a old S engine with under 50k on it

interior looms are also different when they changed to 3 plug. for example, you cant just plug a 3 plug engine loom into a single plug car.
do people just take a guess at answering these questions?
you can use a single plug loom on a newer vts engine. ge a new engine and old loom for easy conversion.
