right im looking to start modding the saxo but just need some help from people with the best manufacturers for performance of that product with pics would be coool... Repped given accordingly...

My saxo is a vtr phase 2 on a 2000 if that also helps

Just looking for best people really

So I am getting:-

Full exhaust system (decatted)

Enclosed Induction Kit

Performance Chip (Unichip any good?) Or recommend any? This will be last on the list to tune the chip to the mods!!

4-2-1 Manifold

Cams

Pully

Then a remap...

Are any of the mods pointless?

Any I shopuld add?

What sort of power gains will i get if its all set up correctly which is why the chip and map is last..

I obviously cant afford to do them all at once so it will progress as and when i can afford...

general prices etc much appreciated also aswell as best places to purchase from...

Cheers

Chipping is pointless, just remap it!

Also brakes are a very good thing to upgrade!

Brakes are the first on the list mate I have already got some new brakes ready for her just got to buy them...

Also to add to the list suspension....

My saxo vtr is currently 100 percent standard apart from induction kit and exhaust so what is the best suspension to use and drop by how much??

Dont want to ruin the ride quality but would like to run it on tracks etc so would be good o get upgraded suspension on it!!

manifold 4-2-1 around 4-6 bhp (and better response on the gas pedal)

induction kit (depends what you get) BMC around 3 bhp Raceland around the same pipercross around 2 bhp K&N 2 bhp.

brakes get mintex pads, grooved or standard dics should be ok, or save up and get bigger setup all together

full exhaust system supersprint or magnex are the popular ones on here decatted your looking at about 8 bhp id say

Cams .....piper or kent kams usally give around 6-8 bhp but tbh I think thats bollocks they give you smoother revs and able to go up the gears better also increases the torque a bit so better pulling power.

performance chip - why get one if your looing at a full remap. personally id buy a stand alone ecu get that programed to your mods (like using the dastek unichip) sort of thing then when it comes to sellig you can put your car back to standard and just remove the stand alone ecu ;)

your looking at an increase of about 14-16 bhp but tbh its a small engined car so I dont think it will even give you that as it will all try and balance itself out so im more looking at 10-12 bhp.and your fuel consumption will go up.

btw your saxo is a mk1 engine in a mk2 body your cars is the 90bhp one so you will just get over 100bhp

last thing a proper remap is a good thing it can open up 25% of what the car can actually do the manifacturer always sets the car to do an optimal performance not its pinical as in pushing the engine really hard.on big engines its worth doing that as for example a skyline 2.5 turbo get it remapped and you could be looking at gians of over 30-40bhp just from a remap but on a saxo your looking more at around 10bhp as its a small engine 1.6 aint nothing to go woo about lol.

My bias opinions on parts ive used before

Exhaust: I love btbs just for the noise. No new ones for sale at the mo and second hand ones are like rocking horse shit that go for £300+. Stay away from powerflow, they make alot of noise but generaly lack in power. Supersprint do a pipe that goes from manifold to back box, that gets good reviews. You can use choose any back box with that. Have alook on Kam racing.

Enclosed induction kits: Ive only ever used a green and BMC, i prefer the BMC so i could do away with the stainless pipe work of the green (allways bloody hot). Looking at £150-180 new but theres allways one or two second hand ones floating about ebay or the classifieds section.

Chips: Dont bother with a gerneric Superchip. Not worth the cash, if you have £350 for one, save a bit more and get a proper re-map after you fitted a cam and all other bits. Dasteks are quite good piggyback ecus, unichip is just a dodgy name. I have heard horror storys with the wiring though.

Cam. Piper, kent, catcam, gmc, longmans all do single 8v camshafts. Profile is upto you. 262 is quite mild, 285 is the norm as its probobly the best with standard internals and inlet. With Mk2 vtr's its recomended you use stronger valve springs, stops alot of tapping noise and its safer.

Vernier pulley: Anyone who sells you a cam will sell you one for about £100, vital on a vtr to get perfect timing.

Exhaust manifold: I prefer 4-1 as when im driving hard i tend to be past 4500rpm and the manifold helps give more power higher in the revs. 4-2-1 is better for mid range. Loads to choose from. Supersprint, raceland, piper etc (get a gmc 4-1 ;))

Fit your induction kit, exhaust and exhaust manifold first. Dont matter what order. Save up for your cam, pulley and remap all in one go after.

sounds like a good list
but why chip it if your getting it mapped theres no point
should pull quite well tho

id look a the supenson set up youd want a full set of polyflex mounts for engine get wishbones done, rear beam ect

id say lower 30 mm if ur gonna track it and want handlingand comfort if you want the euro look go 50mm ebachi are good and apex do a full set for 200 including shocks or koni or spax or blistern all improve handeling if you lower it too much you hit speed bumps and cant really drive the car and only flat roads allow u to give it the beans

air filter wise dont get an induction kit bit pointless get a replacement filter keep standard air box then cut a circle out of the slam pannel and take a feed from there straight to the box soo much better and modify the standard grill meshing it with chevrons

exhaust manifold wise id get a 4-1 ive got a gmc one looks the balls as i own the only stainless one and makes the engine soo much smoother i can do 80or 90 before i need 5th lol and lost no low end power at all so :P

system wise i have a pipper and swear by it no louder than standard when cruising but when u give it the taps sounds beautiful lol also if u get a 3.5 inward rolled looks really nice magnex look good and powerflow sound sooo sexy and u can chooose everything/ ashley comp are cheap and relative good but as said piper and supersprint are best

interior id say gti half leathers all the way to tokoyo they are sexy comfortable and at 6ft 8 even fit me happily speakers wise any aftermarket ones are good alpine type e are relativly cheap and easy to fit 13" in the front 10" in the back unless u massicer the shelf !!!! lol and a fusion bass box at 130 have everything in the kit and are fun to fit

on Drivetrain id say get a standard cluch from valeo or luke if needs doing and get xsport gear linkages with a comp brake to get it shifting faster
if u lower more than 50mm driveshafts are fucked

on the valve train ive fitted kent and loved em in my fiesta and come with springs and everything where as new mans dont and piper are good then there are cat cams and there a competetive one from gmc for full wild ralley cam setup

u could go Supercharged or turbo or throttle body but way deer

if u do cams a nice set of vanier pullies are good and if set propely make very repsonsive along with a port polish and throttle body polish u can get head work by citunning or gmc id go for full modified head for 450 on exchange basis and increases comp

servicing
cooling wise id say leave it alone just flush and upgrade to pink coolant
also oil there 5w50 fulls sythetic and some good gear oil ill help smooth the drive and plugs id say super 4's and new filters all round and a full system flush many people dont service them properly and wonder why it make 95 bhp and not 100 cause the plugs and oil and shit lol

styling is personal to alll but smoked and jewel look awsome in my eyes

if u need help with out or help fitting just send a pm im a sad bastard about cars but i can fit out and a cleaning guru at least work thing so lol :P

and a remap after the cams is a certainty with either stand alone for ease of removal or get megasquirt for full modability lol ask rca kam racing gmc or who ever else for help all awesome :P
