Bit of a'lady' problem. Today whilest "giving it the beans" I noticed my car overheating. So pulled over in a pit stop (Maccy d's - the natural hunting ground of the saxo paxo!) Anyhoo, i noticed my cap wasn't on 100% must of been after I topped up the water yesterday. So I tried to make it go to the "second notch" as the nice little sticker on the bumper instructed me to. But, can i fk get it to go to the second notch, I've tried pressing down on it and twisting, sheer brute force (Got a blister) some more brute force (more blisters) even swearing at it didnt work. Also recived 3rd degree burns whilest opening it while engine was hot and getting water as hot as the sun all over me!
So b4 i go get one from a scrappy claming faulty goods, is there a 'nack' to closng the lid fully? it wont seem to clip in ... sorta turns about 330 instead of afull 360, if u get me?
I hope its the cap, fairly sure it is, since because its not shut 100% steam seaps out of the cap thus fuxing with the cooling, so when u slow down and let the engine relax a little the temp drops back down.
cheers for the help :)

I've replaced the cap and its only seemed to have slowed the problem down rather than fixed it. Its baffled me a bit because the car dosnt get any hotter than I would expect and I don't seem to be loosing any coolant/water at all. I could probably blame a sensor but with it been affected by the change of rad cap I could be looking at a fault rad all together. I'm going to bleed it all and have a good look this weekend cos theres a few things need doing to it!
Just some info to see if any1 can help me, It usually sits just above middle around the 30-50 mark, then 3/4 up from 50-80 then after 80 it starts to creep and goes red around the ton 10/15 mark. The fan kicks in at some queer times too. Could this be electrical or am I looking at a dodgey rad?

sorry put of depth now. i have no idea, other than those youve listed
fan should kickin after youve been kaning when you stop.
check hoses fr blockages (take em off and hose em out)
do the same with the rad also ( remove hoses and hose it through with hosepipe)
that should eliminate those.

Cheers mate, I'll be stripping it a bit this weekend as I've got a small hole in the exhaust i need to patch now and the N/S wing needs adjusting, so the cooling system will get a good strip out to me thinks! If it dosn't fix it i'll probably have to put it in a garage for a diag tbh cos if its not the coolant system hardware (as it were!) It could probably be a 100million things.
I'm hoping the rad has just been filled up with crap over time and its sitting in it somewhere (thus not been used to its full potential) cos the water in it is minging... really minging!
Anyways! I'll post it up on how it all went later on :)
a bit OT but ive just noticed my rep... ppl dont half hate me haha
