BMC CDA > Raceland
But for price can't go wrong with raceland - go into selling section, there about £52 delivered from Hottuning :y:

There's a thread about it somewhere... Basically:
Open = Louder, but doesn't get as much cold air, because of hot air from engine (can get a heat-shield thingy though)
Enclosed = Quieter due to the filter being enclosed, more cold air gets to it though
I think anyways, will try and find the thread.

Enclosed it would be then... and BMC CDA is what you'd want then. Unless your on a budget, then raceland + green would do.
Won't see a huge performance increase, think it's like 5% increase at tops

Go for the Raceland enclosed induction kit as it will give better performance gains (slightly) over a BMC because the scoop and amount of air forced into the throttle body will be larger etc.
Also cheaper than the BMC iirc. but as people have posted already, you need a better filter like the Green cotton item or similar to match the kit :y:

Anyone ever covered the outside of their induction kit with heat reflective tape to help keep the air cold? Just a thought I had. Don't know if it would make any difference.

Its hot air going into the filter mate, not cold air going to a hot filter heating it up.

Fair point, but surely it would help keep the temperature down a bit? If you are managing to get cold air from the front of the car in, then it's wasted if the piping to the engine is already hot.
Maybe it wouldn't be good because you wouldn't be able to see the stylish carbon design for the induction kit haha

yep them ones haha im just a mug who will pay anything lol while we are on this, what green cotton filter do u upgrade to, what code thing is it?

air moves into the engine so quickly that I would stick my neck out and say that heat soak isn't that much of an issue.
But saying that you do need a good air feed and one that doesn't suck in hot air. Ideally this is taken from a high pressure area at the front of the car.
As long as the filter is good quality and its shielded from hot air as above then you can't go wrong

It is, cold air is denser as Im sure you know. If it wasn't an issue then no performance cars would use CAF's or massively engineered inlets. I know it's to an extreme but take a F1 car for example!

I didn't go so far as saying its not an issue ;) It would take a 1-2 degree rise in air temperature to lose you approx 1 bhp.
Now if you are sucking in hot air from the engine bay then the air can be much higher than ambient.... The same loss is not likely to happen by having a warm induction hose, especially when the engine has a fully open throttle and the air has little time to warm up
When you are racing you address everything that may effect power.

So what your saying is theoretically it would be beneficial. But in real life it would make little or no difference.
