Do they improve anything?
I don't want an aftermarket air filter, but something to improve airflow.
Any guidence would be great.
Thanks. :)

Thats a good question as im looking at a panel filter for my vts, ive heard the standard airbox with a panel filter is alot better than an open filter and acts as enclosed but not sure how well it compares to aftermarket enclosed ie raceland.

Not really, cotton filters don't filter as well as standard paper. Foam filters are supposedly better. Both foam and cotton flow slightly better, a matter of 1 or 2 bhp max though when clean. You do notice a nicer sound though with performance panel filters, again barely noticeable though.

Thanks Alex. :)

I put a K & N panel filter in my car when I got it. didn't feel any different on my car (1.1i ) they just optimise the airflow over the standard paper filters so you don't gain any real power over the standard

I did try a K&N on my vts but it didn't really make a noticeable difference, then again supposedly 5bhp isn;'t noticeable. I did have 3 green enclosed filters though, the best by far!

Main issue with airflow if youve still got the Furio mate is the restrictor on the intake pipe. Take that out and it will help

As its a low power engine you wont notice a massive difference, but the small plastic tube that gets smaller in the middle on the air intake piping was built for the 1.1s, and then citroen just used it on all the other engines. Having a straight through pipe is a much better option.
