1600 16v, if you like vts engine, this is without modification of mountings.

loads of people have fitted the 2 litre Mi/Gti-6 in
I've yet to see a decent one driving to gauge how they handle though - certainly there are a few being well built that I'm looking forward to seeing

The fact that it is a flat arch saxo doesn't make any difference to what engine it can take. would just be more fun seeing other peoples faces when a flat arch "base model" dusts them.

I've heard that flat arch models are lighter than VT* kitted ones so therefore a flat arched 16V will be slightly faster than a VTS, I'm not sure if this is true so I could be wrong.

The engine is lighter, so fitting a 16valver will take it to about the same weight!
If you want light get an AX or S1 106!

i bet you could put a 5.2 litre v8 in the back and 4 wheel drive it
i think youd need deep pockets though

I've seen footage of a RWD Saxo, with a 2.0L Honda VTEC lump in the boot.
Much fun!

A 2.0 vts engine, yeah thats all well and good, but, do you realise how many there are? The XU10J4RS engine has 167bhp and is harder to find than rocking horse ****, and i know because i've been looking for one for my VTR for 7 months and the only ones that i have found are way too expensive, the engine was fitted to the xsara VTS and the 306 GTi-6, my latest searches have been for a 206 GTi 180 engine (EW10J4S) which kicks out 180bhp, there are a few more around than the 2.0 VTS but i'm waiting until the price drops a little more :panic: ...again, its also finding one with complete setup :wall:

just look for a normal 206gti 137bhp i think. loads of them about. and from talking to a few on the 206 forums the 180 is hard to tune unless your gonna spend huge money. stick with the 137 for sure if you want 2litre power.
but the 1600 16v would be your best bet by far
