Right i have a bit of cash to play with, so a few more horses out the vtr would be good. I have thought about a vts engine conversion as it has more possibilities for more power, but i dont think im going to go crazy. I already have a viper induction kit, 4 branch mani and straight through system. Just been on the phone to carworx, they have said:

We can supply and fit a cam kit for £620 including new head gasket, head bolts, uprated valve springs (a must on these engines).

To get the head ported and port matched whilst its off would cost £499.00

We can then correct the fuelling on the rolling road for £150.00. This will include power and torque readouts. This will give you approx 120-130bhp.

I would suggest as a decent upgrade, a VTS engine conversion which gives similar power, but scope for even more! We can supply and fit one for £1400, or we can supply and fit a 20k mile C2 GT engine for £1850.00, which will give between 130-140bhp.

If i was to have the work done stated above to my vtr lump, that would probably be as far as i would go. But having a 20k mile c2 lump would be nice. What do you guys think?

A 16v with just a filter and exhaust is alot nice to drive than a cammed 8v. Personaly opinion i know but if someone told me i could get 130bhp out of a 8v or 140bhp-ish out of a 16v conversion for the same sort of money, i know what i would have. And it wouldnt be the 8v ;)

less tuneable than a 16v vts item though

For £1500 you'd be best off selling your Vtr and buying a newer Vts!

i know i could prob sell it to get a newer car, but i like how my car is looking, so wouldnt want to start again really. Im not after masses of power, just a nice increase. Out of the vts or c2 engine, im more tawn towards the c2 lump as its newer with less mileage.
Cheers for your thoughts guys its all taken on board :y:

i have a mate who has a unit, he could maybe help. the most ive done with engines is headgasket change on my old r5turbo. never done an engine swap. would be good experience though

if you can do a headgasket, you'll be more than capable of doing an engine swap :)

Me & jonos_vtr should team up as I'm just about to take the dip with a engine swap rather than a conversion, my prediciment is my current VTS engine is dieing a death, next month I will be having my current VTS changed over for another VTS but with far less mileage, all my mods will be fitted at the same time (PH3 cams, fanimold, zorst, dastek etc) which is all working out less than £1.2k but I do own alot of the parts already, I would'nt splash out £1.5 £2k on a C2 engine, that kind of money you can get a uber low mileage VTS if you look hard enough.

How soon are you to making a decision, we could approach someone ;) i know and try and do a deal for two conversions...

Did you ask them about mapping the MF2 and Sigcon2?
