hi all,
im looking to buy a mk1 vtr or westie and do an engine conversion.

will either of these fit in a saxo engine bay;

Peugeot 206 GTi engine producing 180bhp

or a Peugeot 406 3.0 V6 engine producing 210bhp and which engine would be the best to go for?

saw the 406 engine in a mk1 106 and iirc the engine bays are 7 inches shorter, is this correct?

the 206 gti engine can be fitted but i think its a big job and bits need grinding down?

as for the 3.0 v6 ive seen it done to a 205 so i cant see why it wudnt go in a saxo

its just weather you have the abilities and deep pocket to do it yourself

or just the very deep pocket to get it done professionally

with alot of work the 206 lump can be fitted.

but its the same for all engines.. probably better off going for something like a 1.3 rallye engine or something.. easier to fit with potential.

or just buy a vts and charge it

just sell the 1.1 and buy a vtr or vts.

if you vtr the 1.1 youll need vt struts set of droplinks vt wishbones antiroll bar on the front disk beam on the rear! it'll be cheaper to just buy a vtr

agreed

the vts is cheaper than a conversion
and you can cam it and body it for the same kind of price tbh
would produce similar figures with the right setup

its not really just a case of getting it to fit you should look at where it will fit. Ideally the engine should not be mounted ahead of the front wheels which means that without bodywork mods you have to pick a block similar in size to the VTS engine.

Also for the cost and fabrication you could look at better engines.. I could name 4 I'd rather have in a saxo than any PSA lump

Then I guess you have to ask yourself why.. what advantage does the new engine give. There are more cost effective ways just to go faster you see, a fapping great turbo being one of them lol
