right ive come up with a new idea for mi car that hopefully ppl will think is more sensible this time lol
im thinking a 2.0l 406 engine or sumin simular? big job this one? lol
edit: change of plan again i think lol, been offerd a cheap swift gti with a few tuned bits so i might get that for a track car! so no need for big engine plans for the saxo, but i still wanna bigger engine but summin out of a saxo, any ideas? and do the ecu's just swap over? cos if they do someone said theyed change the engine for 70 quid, so seems cheap?

so you want to go from a 1.1 to a 2.0l 406 engine? why?

didnt say there was anything wrong with it, just wondered why you wanted to go for such a large engine, not fancy an s or an r conversion?

its not a direct drop in. Required fabrication of engine mounts and some chopping of the engine bay to get it to fit right.
Some bodge it in and it sits quite far forward. ahead of the front wheels which is bad for handling.
Check out the RR. There is a guy building one on there with a Gti 6 engine
more sensible would be to stick with a TU peugeot / citroen engine..
there are many ways to build a fast car and fitting a big engine is not always the best.
What do you want to achieve ultimately.. work that out and you'll have a sense of direction and people can help more effectively with advice

1.3 rallye is a cracking engine. Don't need to turbo it lol
TBs and cams are the way to go
Sort the suspension and you'd have a car that'd embarass many round a track

the best conversion for a saxo engine is still the 1.6 16v engine either from the saxo, or from the later variants, 206, 307 etc.
without spending a lot of money, thats your best bang for buck there.
with the money you'll spend getting a bigger engine in there, you could have put a 1.6 in there, and have plenty of money to spend tuning that for big power

basically the bigger cc'd engine youve got, the more tuning potential you have (in theory) lol

Ok first of al you want a 2 litre, now you want a 1.3 ralle engine lol
Think you need to think serously of the route you want to go down and stick to it, otherwise your forevr going to be thinking which engine and never actually get round to doing anything :y:
EDIT - Plus its not just the engine you would need to change, you will need MUCH better brakes, better suspension etc etc

then ask for help.
get an idea of you budget, and start pricing it up.

Sell the 1.1 and buy a Vtr or Vts - much better base to tune - better brakes, suspension, bigger engine!

unfortunately theres so many electronics issues which will need to be overcome. not saying its impossible, but it would be a lot more expensive :)

im not 100% sure on what the engine will set you back.
A LOT of people ask me how much to budget, but never really know what they want.
You need to set a target in your mind really, and ask yourself things like...am i going to run an unopened engine, whats my power figure. etc

i dont kno what to set the budget at as i dunno what things cost propa, but as for power im not talking anthing major to start off with! thinking maybe running the turbo at quite a low boost and strenghten the engine up a bit for a futher power increas and then sorting the electrics out and setting it up propa! how much would that cost if i supplied the engine and loom with gearbox! and as for the turbo im thinking summin like a r5 gt? and id supplie that to! thats a 1.3 ralle engine btw
gonna start priceing an engine up now and a few turbos! the brakes will be sorted out before the convo!
thanx

In my personal opinion, i don't like buying second hand turbos.
Loads of people buy them and get years of good use, however some buy them and they then proceed to destroy an engine. So its a bit of pot luck.
I would buy a new turbo, a small GT series garett wont set you back more than £400.
As for the manifold/dp etc, theres a couple out there, however some are quite pricey, DP engineerings kits come highly rated, but tend to be on the pricey side. Theres a fair few 8v ones knocking about on ebay, for about £200 i believe, how good the workmanship is i don't know.
As far as the rest goes, you need to have oil/water lines made up, the sump modified, boost piping made up, management sorted, and a whole host of little bits and bobs.
Discounting the cost of the engine/box etc, set your budget around £3k for a low boost setup, using a decompression plate and standalone management.
hope this helps

Its cool you want to modify a Rallye engine,
however,
have you considered a different car,
perhaps a Starlet turbo would satisfy your needs...
