yeah for some reason the sparkys in our company still have alot to do but i think thats due to them raggling the houses after plumbing and roughing is done and my uncle is a bricky from fife and there pretty dry just now and rekons that they only have few months left! i suppose it all depends on who you are working with and how much work you have on! there talkin about this lasting maybe into next year so a cant see there being enough work to last till then. gouverment needs to step in i think!

There's only so much the government can do to stop it all going tits up!
Cannot believe how dead the housing market has been - the flat downstairs has been up for sale and to let for 6 months, and hardly any interest!
This time last year, it would have been snapped up like that!

im a sparky,....
alot of people down here seem to be going under aswell, especially the big established companies.
im pretty lucky though as the company i work fr either does alot of industrial and small domestic meaning that dont really have alot to do with new builds.
do alot in schools aswell so thats not gunna stop

me and my old man have enough, to see us to september.....
but there old customers no new ones.......
also one of the cheapest builders around are aera, cheaper than some pols lol.....
at the start of the year, we had no work for 3 months, a mate of my dads owns a diggers and hire's them out, he busy 24/7 easily on a grand a day (driver+machine) and has something like 10 machines all on site........

Yeah its pretty bad in N.Ireland too...alot of my mates (brickys plumbers joiners etc) have all been let off. Apparently the builders arent allowed to build any more houses on site until the other ones have sold, and cuz no1s buyin theyr forced to bring the prices down or close site for a while.
Its pretty crap when stuff like this happens cuz if effects so many people, ive just finished my first year in uni doin Construction....im startin to have doubts about my choice tbh..but they say its a circle and itll all pick up again!
Fingers crossed for all you workers!

Not to do with the construction industry, but my dads business has pretty much came to a stand still. vehicle repossesion, hes done it for 25 years, and now it seems that noone is taking out cars on finance and not paying for it. Either everyone is becoming financial equipped to pay, or have found a kink in the system!
