Exhaust pipe

I want to remove my centre box... as the supersprint i ordered never turned up and i lost out on my money... was wondering what diameter pipe i need to fit over the existing pipe if i grind the old centre box out... or the same diameter where i can put a sleeve over each end or weld it...

std. system is 1.5inch iirc but dont slate me if im wrong
