What is better? In a car with new cams - ECU remap or an SMT6?? Is it easy to remap 2001 VTS ECU or it's better to buy SMT6?

Never heard of the SMT6 myself. I take it is similar to the 'Dastek Unichip' ?

If so, I'd say it would be better to get this as if you were to get more mods in the future, it will be easier to calibrate the fueling setup with the new mods in comparison to remapping standard ECU.

Company site: http://www.perfectpower.com
Direct link to SMT6: http://www.perfectpower.com/products/smt6.asp

But do You thhink it is hard to calibrate Saxo's ECU. I think that remapped ECU should be more precise than SMT6

I got a smt6 but the installer is having a problem with one of the ECU signals (RPM or camshaft as per his info). The ECU wirings provided by perfect power do not iclude all VTS models. By the way does anybody know were can I get my saxo vts 1.6 16V 1998 ECU wiring? seems there are some versions... if not I will have to abort my project,,, for now.

My ECU is Magneti Marelli 1AP.41 but all the pinouts do not fit the wiring provided by Perfect Power. We could find all the signals inside the ECU connector but have one missed, the crank sensor. we are trying to find it since I understand that will handle the RPM. asap be working fine, will let you know in case need the correct wiring diagram (if you have same ECU), that will save you a lot of working.

key here is *MAPPED* if the standard ECU was mapped for those cams etc, and fuel pressure adjusted to match and all timed up to get the best then standard is spot on.
SMT6 or OMEX or DTA etc, gives the USER more functionality to adjust things, but if its gonna be left with the mods then a remap will be fine if its mapped properly, speak to Jamsport.

Does somebody know / have used an ignition amplifier? the original signal coming from sensor is too low to be read by my SMT6. still working on it.

just for your information we could install the smt6 but still having problems with revs. no doubt that power is higher, mainly above 5000 rpm. have gone to 7800, but in the mornings, to turn the engine on is a pain... and sometimes i have a lack between 3000 3500 revs.
keep testing.

Do you have some progress? Please post some pictures of the wiring if it is possible.
