been lookin at a 1.4 furio engine as an upgrade from my 1.1! but ive heard alot about ppl putting 1.1 gear boxes on vt*'s, i was wonderin if there was much differnce in a 1.1 gearbox and a 1.4? and would it make the acceleration better? also would it be worth doing a few bits on this engine e.g. cam, remap, exhaust and maniford?
thanx
edit: if this was all done would i need a disk convo on the back?

the xsi is pretty short

so accelerates a lot quicker
im getting 1 for my vts

there probably the 'best' box about

i highlight best as best standard box
you can obviously get a box built with straight cut gears ect that would be nuts

but cost wise id say xsi ftw

putting a 1.1 gearbox on anything else would only last 6 month at the most. too much stress on it

xsi is a 1.4 or a 1.6 depending

the 1.1 box can take some stick
but not loooooaaaaads

iirc simo has 1 on his turbo sax atm

xsi box on a furio im not too sure
youd definatly lose a bit of top speed
its more about getting there faster with the xsi box

im thinkin it will be quite a nice little combo on a buget? cheap to engine, box and lom etc bout 110, and how much ish for an xsi box?
think id need rear disks?

xsi boxes go for a couple hundred usually

i managed to find 1 for 150
thats cheap like
id convert up to discs if your giving the car hard use
but for the usual the drums just about do the job

depends what you drive like (i drive hard and am uprating my 1.1 fronts and trying to find a disc beam atm like)

i have a 1.4 furio and they have rear drum brakes, so having back discs in my opion is a wast of money for a 1.4, imo i would just upgrade the size of the front discs.
