Hey guys i bought my vtr as standard about 3 months ago now since then i have had the windows tinted, 17" rims on, supersprint 4 2 1 mani, sportex back box, bosch super4s, Green air filter fed to front and one hell of a sound system in but my main concern is it was faster standard than now why is that? is there anything else to do other than go for a vts (i would but cant afford one yet ) i mean there 4 vtrs where i live and they seem pretty quick and mine like a snail. please help thanks.

Is all that sound just making it heavy?

Also those 17" rims wonīt help much!

change your uber huge 17 inch alloys for some 15's or standards, rip out the huge sound system and your rear seats and then feel the free power :D also get a full supersprint system! and an enclosed induction kit as an open filter will be sucking on hot air and will be doing f**k all for performance!

Thanks guys i will try ditching the 17`s and go back to vtr standards or some lenso 15`s. the sound system aint much to it really in terms of weight wise tweeters door speakers 4 6x9s 2 1000w amps 1 farahad power cap 12" sub. the open filter is in the corner near my washer fluid with a 72mm cold air feed to it will it make much difference to an enclosed

30th June 2008, 00:40
i appreciate the advice and am going to listen am a bit clueless like numb in the head type thing. i had bought a raceland enclosed but ditched it as i couldnt see how it would get enough air in as the location behind the slam pannel

NaughtyBoy
30th June 2008, 00:40
Whatīs the make of ur induction?

Saxo_s7evo
30th June 2008, 00:43
i cant remember but green make it i`ll know in the morning when i look in the garage

97vtr
30th June 2008, 00:44
you ditched probably the 2nd best induction kit you can buy lol

Saxo_s7evo
30th June 2008, 00:47
it sat in the garage at the min like i honestly dont have a clue on how it would be affective to get enough air into the engine as the slam pannel right in the way and there no holes or anything for air to pass into the enclosure.

NaughtyBoy
30th June 2008, 00:48
The raceland inclosed kit itīs one of the best (and cheap) just need to buy a green cotton tho

97vtr
30th June 2008, 00:49
where you got air feed being fed from?

Saxo_s7evo
30th June 2008, 00:52
that the set up i purchased enclosure and green off www.kam-racing.co.uk i had a go at locating it and it wouldnt sit straight when it was straight the front was blocked by the slam pannel so i took the plastics off and go some chrome pipe and fed the green filter to the front .

Saxo_s7evo
30th June 2008, 00:53
the bottom grill of the bumper

97vtr
30th June 2008, 00:55

NaughtyBoy
30th June 2008, 01:03

Saxo_s7evo
30th June 2008, 01:06

Trust me the raceland will get enough air, mine roars like a monster, got a vts with raceland manifold, supersprint centre section, piper backbox and decat and raceland inclosed with green. made 134 when i had it rr

Saxo_s7evo
30th June 2008, 01:18
you got any pics of the raceland like??

NaughtyBoy
30th June 2008, 01:20

Saxo_s7evo
30th June 2008, 01:25

NaughtyBoy
30th June 2008, 01:33
I donīt mate but there are plenty, itīs easy, but you have to change ur coilpack from the std place, also the oil fluid bottle

Saxo_s7evo
30th June 2008, 01:36
i have a mk2 vtr the coilpack is direct

NaughtyBoy
30th June 2008, 01:46
Lucky you, almost plug&play, the steering oil bottle will need to be pushed to the side tho

Saxo_s7evo

i was talking to the guy at the garage where i had my gear box and clutch done and he said i could probs mount it on the battery bracket out the way altogether then

littleracer
30th June 2008, 08:51
mate of course you gone back, you got a worser induction kit, bigger wheels and more weight lol.
get smaller wheels for a start, then as said just stick ya raceland on,it will make a big difference, dont worry about how much coverage its got due to slam panel, air gets in there and it stops hot air getting in.
trust what people say ;)

Saxo_s7evo
30th June 2008, 12:47
ok thanks a lot guys will give it a go see what happens :)

AlexB
30th June 2008, 14:03
you could allways cam it lol

that would make a difference

Saxo_s7evo
30th June 2008, 14:12
how much diffence

Karl
30th June 2008, 14:16
depending on the cam that you use mate,

Youd need vernier pulleys though as a VTR doesnt have these as standard
and to get the most out of it,
an ECU remap too.

Saxo_s7evo
30th June 2008, 14:21
will 780 cams do ok ? and alu verniers

Karl
30th June 2008, 14:33
I guess?
I dont know anyone on here personally with a cammed VTR.

Bang for buck, might aswell have a VTS engine and have more potential future tuning in the first place.

NaughtyBoy
30th June 2008, 14:38
Thereīs a group buy on newmans for vtr, i think price is 157quid or something like that, itīs a bargain i think and newmans have already been tried on vtrīs

Karl
30th June 2008, 14:47
Ģ157,
plus then Verniers,
Plus then the hassle of finding a map etc..

Only to find out you make less power than the 16v lump anyways, and your insurance is more probably than a VTS.

Scattle
30th June 2008, 14:53
Dasher-Vtr has just had his Cammed, maybe give him a PM?

AlexB
30th June 2008, 14:53
it was a suggestion but I wouldnt
cammed VTRs have been done a few times

but the insureance goes up a fair bit

AlexB
30th June 2008, 14:54
oh also mapping is around 400 quid at least from a decent place

NaughtyBoy
30th June 2008, 14:55
Yes itīs true, itīs pretty expensive, i would advise you to do as i did, 16v conversion, more 20hp in the cheapest way possible

Slammed_Posi_Vtr
30th June 2008, 15:07
why tell insurance about cams? thats just stupid considering they are invisible to an insurance company!

AlexB
30th June 2008, 15:16
I know
I didnt about mine tbh

but legally any mid should be declaired

Saxo_s7evo
30th June 2008, 15:47
thanks for the help guys :) if i new how to rep i would lol i would get a vts but am not in work so cant afford one really barely can afford my vtr see what happens but i was told the cams when you put them in your top end starts to tap and rattle what causes this??
