is there any difference between the mk1 and mk2 vts engines? i think the pins are different for the ecu but not entirely sure.

yeh, mk1's are single plug ECU's and the mk2's are 3plug. So u will need to stick to the same plug ECU as what u have now, unless u have ALL the wiring looms etc.

The difference between the engines is minor. Just a few sensors with different connectors and of course you have the egr valve on the mk2.

early mk2's also come with a single plug but the connector at the car end of the loom doesn't plug into a single plug vtr car loom, so you'd still have to rewire it (or fit a mk1 vts engine loom as I did)

id go for mk2. most will probably have lower milage.

The 2001+ (three plug ecu) has extra emission controls, air pump exhaust gas pump on the head and 2 lambda sensors.

depends on the year of the mk2 and year the engine loom came off
