i have a MK2 VTR and i am wanting a new manifold.
My cat is in the manifold so my options are either getting a mk 1 manifold without a cat or get a Janspeed SportsCat manifold.
i wanna no what differences in performance are between having a sports cat or none at all?
cheers

Is basically the same performance mate, but a sports catted car will pass MOT etc... whereas a de-catted car would'nt.

I have to disagree there abit..
De-cat will help power more, only abit though..As for passing MOT's, my old Saxo didnt and a friend of mine didnt pass emissions..both with sports CAT's..Both car's were very well looked after aswell..
Citroen dont put a specific CAT on the car for a laugh, they do it so it just scrapes through so maximum power is acheived within the Co2 regs etc..

All depends on the car i suppose... I had a sports cat on mine and went straight threw the emmisions test. Then de-catted and felt exactly the same performance wise, but failed the emissions test.

GMC or a supersprint, both are a bit over £200 but are definitely worth it imo.

Old thread, But i'm in the same situation.
Whats the difference over std Cat, or De-Cat?
Is there a real gain other than noise?
Also, would the car be less economical without a cat than it would with?
Apologies for Hi-Jacking!

go with the decat route, its cheaper and only downside is putting it back on for mot, plus itll sound better,
i thought decatting a car made the fuel consumption worse but ive actually seen a few more miles from £10 since decating mine :D:D

Just what i wanted to hear.
It won't go much better anyway i shouldn't think, its its only got 1 llambda before the cat anyway.
I'm averaging 345 to a tank, which works out at 40.4MPG or something, No Cat effectively is less restriction and less weight, how well that theory works is what i want to see..
Though i'm going from Raceland manifold, Cat, Std Centre Section and magnex backbox, to Raceland Manifold, De-Cat and Maxnex centre and backbox..
So will soon see!
