Hi, my saxo vts has not been the same since i added my manifold and cams...
current spec: Gasflowed Head, Kent pt50kcams, GMC 4-1 manifold, px viper, full system, Decat.
i dunno if this is because it needs mapping or its something else?? its really bugging me!! >.<
the syptoms are:
Poor idle, stalling when slowing down, feels abit flat than it used to, hesitates.
ive changed the idle control valve and map sensor and had no luck :( eva since i fitted the gmc manifold its been chugging bad and has got worse since the cams were fitted....
does it need mapping?? the kent cams also say they gain 22+bhp??? were is this id love to know :( it was faster before without the manifold and cams...
your help and advice wud be much appreciated...
cheers

As with nearly all engines, a car will sound a bit "lumpy" on idle when it has been cammed, but you should look at getting it mapped as with more air being taken in, it will need more fuel, which should level it out a bit. It will alsoallow you to set it up to make the most of the fitted cams and allow you to make adjustments if need be.
Look at getting her mapped and tested on a rolling road from someone that knows what they are at...

know of any good mappers in the northwest?? just one other thing.... it idle perfect on choke im guessing ur rite then saying it needs mapping to get more fuel....

Yeah, basically because the cams are pushing the valves up and they are staying open for longer, which is taking in more air...
An engine works on a pre-set air/fuel ratio, with the idea of gainging more power is by adding more air AND more fuel...
You need to add both in a set mix to gain power..
Hope you get her sorted

What kind of money would be on her, if you were to put it up for sale?
Im after a white Phase 1 VTS myself, but would consider a respray and panel change...

It sounds from what your saying that the problems only started after fitting your cams.
Have you checked the timing? maybe the cambelt has jumped a tooth?
Also, not adjusting the map to suit the new cams may be contributing to the problems your getting
Hope this helps

if i read right, then he hasnt had it remapped since fitting the cams?

if you havent had it mapped will that make it run lean if so would nt that mean that the pistons etc are getting hotter than they should? or is that not true?
