not long ago i bought a saxo westcoast in blue and was speaking to one of my mates who reckons if i put a 106 xsi throttle bodie on my car it will bump it up to 100bhp. Just want to know if it will actually work ????

Don't think so. The XSI has a wilder cam and less emisions control. I think the block may also be totally different (XSI is iron, Westy ally?) so I don't think that would work.

I could be totally wrong, but I don't think I am

see i thought the xsi engine was the same as in the westcoast maybe its not ??

I don't think it is.

An alternative to look at could be the metal inlet manifold from the 1.3Rallye. I know that these go onto the VTR lump, not sure on the westy though

Most cost efficient way is exhaust on your car i would of thought because they restricted these engines with small bore exhausts iirc. Then i'd say put a wilder cam in it. Dont bother wasting money on induction kits etc as you would probably loose power.

If your handy with a spanner why not drop a VTR engine in it, these sell for dirt cheap nowadays

you wouldnt make 100 bhp just bye changing the throttle body youll need a few more mods besides:y:

get a dastek unichip, a good quality induction kit like k&n and a full exhaust system or a new car like a evo lol

im sorry but the 2001+ vtrs rnt even 100bhp they are 98 so not far off lol but not quite.
and i fort the xsi was a 16v engine???????
and the westcoast an 8v engine??????

well put it one way y would they put an engine that can very easly be made more powerfull than one of their top range of saxo in a lower range saxo it doesnt make sence.

xsi is 8v aswell. if you could which i doubt youd never have a jump of power like that

incorrect

its pretty hard to do breathing mods without increasing air flow into the car

a decent induction kit such as BMC or raceland will increase airflow.. granted it may only give about 3 bhp.. but it will free up the engine from the restrictiveness of a standard air box

Should work..In theory..

Just put the cam in your head and get it P+P'd..

The XSI head may not fit your block..

am sure the 106 rallye has a bigger diameter or even not restricted
