rite im looking slightly into the future here, i will give the full story, eventually i want my car to be a track car in the future but want to slowly start to tune it while i have it now. i did or have had thoughts on supercharging or turboing my car before now. but i have been looking into cams and head work.
also do you any good places to go for getting headwork done someone i know mentioned highflow heads are they any good?
also what kind of power gains would i be looking at
i know some people will say dont bother and get a vts just wanna get ure opinions on 8v modificaton.
cheers
dave
if i'm right, few people have bothered s/charging the blacktop due to lack of knock sensor. still possible though. impossible to tell bhp gains on headwork, depends what kind of headwork you want. you could get a reasonable power figure from an 8v, but for a dedicated track car most people would swap the 8v for a high comp 'bodied 16v lump.
agree with sean on switching to a 16v if you want it to be a track car, but theres still no harm in tuning the 8v engine.
if you want some cams my mate scott has some for a black top, brand new piper fast road cams still boxed for £150.
all you will need to fit them are the valve springs which you can get from piper for £43.

not looking to buy anything at the moment mate. the headwork i was looking on the highflow head's site was
-Head is crack tested prior to modification
-Cylinder head is skimmed to optimise the compression ratio
-Inlet and exhaust valves are re-lapped to their corresponding valve seats
-The inlet and exhaust ports are fully ported to optimise gas speed and port velocity
-The addition of anti-reversal ratchet on the inlet ports
-The addition of high flow, three angle valve seats
-The standard inlet and exhaust valves are modified
-New valve stem oil seals
that is taken off the site but i reckon it should produce some reasnable gains and give me a good base for when i put uprated cams in
