View Full Version : My 1.1 East Coast... new furio.. oooh

I bought the car in March and it looked like this...
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i168/gsavill90/P1030512.jpg
a bit pink.. but with 47,000 miles on the clock, and very tidy looking bodywork i thought £1,500 was a pretty good price.
A month or so later, the car was in the garage for new front calipers, disks and pads, as well as new fluid, two new tyres, and news that the driveshafts would both soon need replacing. Oh, and the 12 months MOT turned out to be 6 months.. and the 12 months warranty turned out to be a 6 month warranty not worth the paper it was written on.. I think i was ripped off a bit.. but live and learn..
The first thing i did was to fit a K&N induction kit, which I'm embarrassed to post any photos of, and to fit a pair of strange holographic bulbs.. which give a half blue white, half yellowy white light.
Next i ditched the standard wheel trims, and upon realising I'd bought a three stud car, decided alloys were out of the question and so i painted the steel wheels black.. with a red rim.. not that great looking.. but i have no money.
I also ditched the standard grill and replaced it with black mesh.
This is how the car looked roughly a month after i bought it..
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i168/gsavill90/P1010028.jpg
Then after a short trip to halfords the rear end was dewipered, and the lights tinted slightly.
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i168/gsavill90/P1010026.jpg
Then a friend made an amazing suggestion... go faster stripes...
so i spent ten pounds and a few hours of my time on a set of black viper stripes..
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i168/gsavill90/stripes.jpg
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i168/gsavill90/stripes2.jpg
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i168/gsavill90/stripes1.jpg
I really liked this look... the stripes made the flat arch 1.1 look a bit more aggressive.. and kinda like a go cart. I really liked it and everyone i knew liked it. Got plenty of looks too..
At around this time i removed the rear brake light and stuck it beneath the mesh of the front grill.
This along with a pair of fog lights made the car pretty funky.
I also bought a supersprint backbox for a VTR (a few weeks old, £125 from ebay). With some work with a Stanley knife and some exhaust putty it fitted pretty well. Now the car didn't go that fast.. but it looked and sounded the part..
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i168/gsavill90/0000110.jpg
When the car was like this i went to a regional, Yorkshire sax-p meet.. going thinking my car looked pretty cool, despite being a 1.1..
The Highly modified track VT's blew me away.. and the sight of a fully stripped out Saxo speeding away from me was amazing.
However the cars that really got me thinking were the subtly modified VTR's. These relatively standard looking cars looked so much smarter than my car.. and in my opinion, mainly because of the VT bodykit.. and my viper stripes.
So i decided I'd have to sell my 1.1 and buy a VTR.
However due to insurance.. and financial commitments I've made ending March 2009.. i will have no spare money at all... until March.
I settled on selling my 1.1 and buying a VTR as soon as i could.. in 2009. With this a sudden disregard for my car, and car depression set in.
Since then I've decided to keep my 1.1.. but instead of trying to save £1500 (at least).. i could convert my car step by step into a VTR.
I'll talk more about my plans later..
However this is the car as it stands now...

http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i168/gsavill90/P7261098.jpg
Standard grill spray painted matt black.. not too sure if i like it too much.. might break out the white spirit soon.
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i168/gsavill90/P7261094.jpg
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i168/gsavill90/P7261112.jpg
Painted the badges black..
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i168/gsavill90/P7261092.jpg
The only view of my car that i like.. you can see the supersprint backbox here..
The sound system...
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i168/gsavill90/P7261101.jpg
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i168/gsavill90/P7261118.jpg
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i168/gsavill90/P7261121.jpg
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i168/gsavill90/P7261123.jpg
I should point out.. i didn't order that sub.. i ordered an alpine sub and a carpeted box. I also did not order that amp.. i ordered an alpine amp.. but in both instances what i ordered was out of stock so they sent me "upgrades" worth a little bit more.
The head unit is a 14 year old top of the range Alpine tape player. I bought it for my Mk3 Fiesta.. not wanting a silly looking shiney silver thing.. but still wanting decent sound quality.
The speakers are just relatively cheap alpine things. I have never really had too much money to spend on my car. But hopefully this will change.
Now, Sorry for writing so much.. boring i know, but i'm trying to condense a few months of thought process into a small post..
Ok, my plans. Essentially i'm saving up money to go away for a few months, and i come back for the beginning of March, so then i can spend on my car.
When i come back top of the list is carrying out a four stud conversion.
This will take the shape of a new rear axle from a VTR, and so a rear disk conversion. I've not read too much into replacing the front strut assemblies.. but ideally i'd like the front struts and brakes from a VTR also.
At the same time as this i'd like to lower the car also. Not too low, as i live up a farm track, but low enough for it to look nicely planted.
Now on four studs i'd fit a set of VTR alloy's.
Next on the list would be a full VT kit, which i'm planning on painting and fitting all myself. However i can see this quickly changing.
After this it looses pretty much all order. However here is a list of what i'd like to do to the car after the basic lowering, four stud conversion, VT kit lot..
-Window tints (maybe, not too sure on whether i like them or not...)
-Uprated front brakes, the standard ones are just dangerous..
-Recaro Classic style front seats. (maybe too expensive, so...)
-VTR interior.. door cards, and rear seats.
-1.6 Engine conversion (from a VTR. However this may be a problem with insurance seeing as i'll only be 19 with just under two years driving under my belt..)
-Full supersprint exhaust to compliment backbox (including manifold)
-Remove rear badges and smooth over boot button.
That's about it for now.
Ideally i'd like.. a VTR.. but it's not really financially viable.. and certainly not as much fun as converting what i already have (and love :P)

insted of spending that money turning it in to a vtr why not just save alittle and get a vtr, vtrs at 19 with 2 years driving are not 2 expensive to insure i think. alot of people have to have a car they dont want till they can replace it, i think it will be a right fuck on tryin 2 change it and if your going 2 replace your engine go for a 16v insted of the 8v.

Hey, thanks for all the replies so quickly.
If i said my insurance was originally £1800 a year.. third party. That was me being 17 with a few months driving. Now I've got a pass plus thing it's down to around £1200 a year. Cheapest i got it on price comparison sites was about £2000. I think i'm in a really high crime area because they dump cars in my post code.
However insurance isn't the main issue, When i'm back in the UK from March i'll start with no money, but with a stable amount coming in every two weeks. For a start i think it'd be a nightmare trying to sell this car, and i wouldn't get anywhere near the £2500 that's already been spent on it. I think around 800 quid would be a goodish amount... then i'd have to save up quite a bit of money to buy a VTR. By the time i had enough money it'd be getting on to july time.. and i'm hoping to go to uni in September. Basically it seems to make sense to have a project rather than save for months. It doesn't really make sense i know, but it'll give me something to do with my time at least.
And those shit up arches... that's half a mile of farm track twice a day every day.. Must get a jetwash on them some time. I'm guessing that's what you meant.. it's either that or the dent caused by me driving into a shopping trolley in one of my moments of car depression..
That'll probably be about it for now I'm afraid.. only thing i can do is take stuff off and paint it at the moment...
I've been considering taking the headlamp lenses apart and painting the non reflector bit black. I know it looks good on the Mk2.. but I've not seen it on any Mk1's yet. Anyway if it fails there's always white spirit..
I'm also considering returning the smoked rear lights to standard, and changing the front grill back to standard, not too happy with that matt black paint..

Is there a way of taking the headlamps off without removing the whole front bumper?? I'm sure there must be. Maybe my hands are just too big :(
Anyway, just finished putting it all back together, it's dark so i don't have a clue what it looks like yet. Think i'll like it though.
Just gotta do the same to the indicator lenses next. I think i'll end up doing lots of this free stuff..

I've only been doing things like the battery and ecu trays so far.
The bodykit should be fun, i'll just have to be really patient. I think i'm quite handy with a spray can, so if i know what to do.. then i should be able to do it.
The worst that could happen is i'll end up having to pay for it to be painted. That's what i'm planning for..

I just kept an eye on ebay and stumbled across the whole side kit.. Instantly bid 100 quid for it as it was only 90 miles away. Ended up getting it for 30 quid..
Still need the front and rear bumpers.. but they're always on ebay so shouldn't be a problem.

Cant get to the for sale section yet :( only 80 more posts... :P
I'm on a bit of a budget at the moment, so all spending has pretty much stopped on the car. It's going into the garage on monday for welding to the rear wheel arches, and a set of driveshafts.. Might also need a new cam cover gasket, and there's something wrong with the relay for main beam (keeps tripping out and i end up with no lights!)
So i cant really afford anything at the moment :(
They are on the list though :D

The side skirts on the VT kit i bought needed a little attention. Firstly there was a series of cracks on one of the skirts.. Secondly i decided the small arrows pointing to the jack points.. needed smoothing out. There was also what looked like a small burn mark on one of the front arches.
This lead me to borrow a fibreglass kit, and some filler from a friend of mine (rob106).
The small arrows i prepared by cutting with a craft knife to give a really rough surface, and also by sanding with really rough wet and dry paper. I just filled the recessed with filler.. not entirely sure if that's a perfect idea.. it might crack, but i dont know. The container said it will not crack, or fall out.. so i'm going by that at the moment. Anyway it's only 3mm max...
Pictures..

http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i168/gsavill90/P8081155.jpg
I think i've got a pretty good finish on it.. and i'm happy with how it turned out.
Next i tackled the series of cracks in one of the side skirts. These are a little serious.. so i may need to buy a new skirt. Anyway, i tried my best to get it sorted. I started by sanding and cutting the inside of the skirt to get a decent surface to start "fibreglassing" on. Once the fibreglass had been done at the back of the cracks, i filled the painted side..
I haven't quite finished yet.. but here's an "in progress" shot..
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i168/gsavill90/P8081157.jpg
and the fibreglass..

you dont have to have one of those thingies, it probably takes just as much work to cut the slats from the standard kit, smooth it out with fiberglass (which you seem to be getting along with fine with!) and then just mesh it and spray it.
Where you going away mate? if you dont mind me asking :)

Spending a few months on an island called St Helena (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St_Helena) with a friend of mine. He used to live there a year or so ago, so i'm going back with him for a bit.
I'm currently in the process of saving up about a grand and a half for food (I've already paid £1600 on getting there and back), and working part time on £5.04 an hour.. it's a bit of a struggle :panic: Not to mention £25 a week for car insurance, and about £20 a week for petrol..
Should be a lot of fun though.. 3 months with a very good friend on the most remote island in the world..

Hehe, go for a full front strut assembly.. refurb.. new springs, new dampers, new mounts.. new disks and pads.. few hundred... but you could get a group N front end then.. hehe.
I'm aiming to be one of those cars that can beat a car with twice its power round a track.. just by investing a shedload into the chassis setup.. Then a VTS rear axle with group N dampers.. new mounts.. uprated pads.. (uprated torsion bars).. just go for it :drink:

Stick with standard calipers.. and spend the spare money on mounts.. and strutbraces :D And a decent spring/damper setup..

To be honest.. unless i start getting 40 hour weeks at work (i've been getting 15 recently..) I'll only be able to sand down the parts of the VT kit i've got.
If i hit my target early i may indulge myself and buy some paint.. but realistically nothing exciting is going to be happening until March 09 :(
However, when i get back i'll be spending about £150 a week on my car... which should make for some entertaining viewing :D
I've seen some carbon fibre mirror caps i like :P
And the thought of a VTS engine... oooh...:P

Iv been working like a beast over holidays to afford my alloys, since i got a bargain on them, hoping for angels and rev counter by end of the hols!

The problem with just buying a VTR is i'd come back in march with no money at all.. then i'd have to save around a grand or so.. then sell my car (which i think would be a nightmare).. and then i could buy a VTR. It makes more sense.. but it wouldn't be my car.. or not for a while at least. Plus the thing i'd enjoy would not be driving a faster car.. it'd be the improving a car. It may not make much sense.. but i'd rather spend twice as much over a longer span of time working on the car i have. If for nothing else it would give me something to do.
Work at the moment is really letting me down.. because i've been working around 12 hours a week whilst at school i'm contracted as a part time member of staff. Now it's the holiday all the under 18's (part timers) are wanting to work more.. and as a result there are less shifts available for me. However, in September lots of people are leaving and all the kids go back to school :P so i should get more work. However, due to the fact i'll be leaving in November.. i'll have to be saving pretty hard..
I've considered getting a second job.. but in my area jobs are a little scarce.. so it's not been that easy.
But hey, i'm happy just planning.. drooling over car's on Sax-P and painting things.. so it's all good :)
A rev counter is definitely on my list for when i get money. It's one of the things i really miss. I' just stick to 1st gear 25mph.. 2 gear 55mph.. and so on.
Alloys i need too.. but that leads me to a new rear beam.. and new front struts.. which leads me to new driveshafts, engine, gearbox.. uprated suspension.. better brakes.. the list is almost endless.
Basically a VTR.. yes :)

Let's do it :D It looks pretty good tbh..
We'll probably need a good few hours.. taking the bumpers off is a right pain.. then getting the trims off without snapping all the pins (i've worked out how to do this :D).
We'll need a trip to B&Q too i recon.. then halfords :D

I'm not sure if i've already mentioned it.. but the car's going into the garage tomorrow. It needs some welding in the rear arch.. two new driveshafts and new front tyres.
I'm also considering asking the garage to buy me a relay for my headlights so i can fit it myself. When i put full beam on after about a minute of so it trips out leaving me with only sidelights.. Pretty useful when you're flying along a country road in the middle of the night..
I'm assuming it's the relay. It's not the bulbs.. and i cant think what else it could be.
Anyway.. that's all for tonight..

sorry, i meant to say in mine that WOULD'NT really want to save mine, im fine with doing extra work on it, and only when i have to get rid of it i will. its fine power wise anyway, im looking to add an induction kit and we'll see where we go from there.
good luck trying to get more shifts!
also just a word of caution with the bumpers, apparently, the back bumper doesnt fit very well on a flat arch. it doesnt line up properly or something. I had similiar plans and was warned against it. Im sure its do-able, just might need more work.

I'd imagine that's to do with the rear quarter panel being a different design on the flat arch. That's the bit i'm not looking forward to, cutting apart a panel.
I'll figure it out.. and if all else fails i'll just hold it on with cable ties :D

Just got the car back from the garage. Who'd have thought how much difference two new tyres and some new driveshafts would make!
Bearing in mind the tyres i had on before were years old and were cracking all around the sides..
Just come home from work and due to a major road closure on the only road from my work to my house.. i had to spend half an hour driving some of the finest country roads in the country :P
The car feels so much better now, especially on roundabouts :P
The garage didn't weld the rust as they ran out of time, and they said it was non structural, so it wouldnt be an MOT failure.
Tomorrow i'll remove all the rust, sand the area down and fibreglass it up. Paint it with hammerite until i can get my hands on some proper underseal stuff.
I've also recently removed all my boot build and rear seats due to curiosity about weight reduction. I noticed a real difference and i'm considering carpetting my bootspace, keeping the rear seats out, and getting my amp and sub fixed in the recess where the seats used to be. I can cope with increased road noise.. but i cant really cope without my bass ;)

Yeh it should come out fine. Today was a real boost of confidence :P
Think i might go about re lacquering my grill soon. I should point out to people that aren't rob.. when i removed my go faster stripes two big chunks of lacquer peeled off my grill :(
I think i might get the VT kit to the primed stage soon also. Buy a load of primer :D
Shouldn't cost me too much :P
I'm also planning to completely clad all the metal work visible in carpet.
I need money :(

I should also probably point out by bono we mean my old fiesta..
I named it bono because it was always pathetic, completely useless and on it's way out..
It ended up in the scrap yard with rotting sills :)
Bodywork still looked pretty tidy though..
Unfortunately i cant find any pictures of it on it's way to the scrapyard. It was amazing.. about a fortnight before it's MOT ran out i invested around thirty quid in spray paints and completely covered the car in graffiti style painting.. It started off really arty.. but after letting people at school join in it got really quite offensive.
Pictures speak louder than words.. but i dont have any pictures. sorry :(

I have to be up for work in 4 hours and i cant sleep.. so i thought i'd post something on here...
Arranged to buy some lowering springs today. 35mm drop, and 30 quid.
Made by PI i think. Not really going for quality at this stage, it's just an opportunity to get the front lowered for cheap. Going to do it all myself. The bolts won't be seized (i know the centre hub nut is often a little tricky to get off) because i've just had all the driveshafts done and everything.
I'm also planning on giving the torsion bar a go.. I'll probably need some serious help though.. and give up taking it to a garage.
I'm guessing the bolts will be hopelessly seized and i'll have to drill them out in some way or something :(
Anyway, the aim of this is to just get it lower for cheap. I'm planning on going a full four stud/rear disk conversion at some point, so it's not too important how good the ride will be, it's mainly for looks :P
Sorry, i'm tired and going on.. I'll try sleep now.

Now compare this to a few days ago...
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i168/gsavill90/P7291144.jpg
Pretty amazing.. i know :)
Ok, hours of cutting, fillering and sanding.. I'll make it easier.

after:

Basically i cut out the vertical slats in the standard grill. I did the horizontal ones some time ago, but the vertical slats were a little trickier as it meant the plastic had to be sanded completely smooth where they were, and then all the grill had to be resprayed..

I found the exact same thing. That's why i've decided to go down the route of upgrading what i have. The main reason is the absolute pain it would be to buy this car and buy a new one. If it was just an easy trade, with a bit of money then i'd do it straight off. It's just i dont think my car is very sellable as it is..
It's a little rough around the edges. Things like.. my mate broke the winding mechanism on the sunroof... I've cut a rough hole out of the back bumper to fit the exhaust (planning on a vt bumper at some point).. I've snapped one of the window winders.. the induction kit i've fitted means that the standard airbox wont go back on.. essentially it would need lots of stuff buying from a scrapyard.
Then there's the fact that so much has been spent on it... and there's the rust.. it's covered in stonechips..
It just seems a lot easier to improve it :)

hmmm yer, i keep looking at mine thinking "will it sell" but i need to decide now really beacuse i need to start saving up lol!
thw mods i have done so far are ones that can be changed if i did come to sell eg. spraying badges, meshing grill, but i really wona spend money on alloys, getting it lowered etc, but will kick my self if i need to sell it or decide to, and have, like u sed, spent so much money on it!
Mines not in too bad condition, just interior bit worn

I went to a sax p meet with my saxo and seeing all the VTR's and the lot i decided i had to sell. Financially it makes sense to sell up and buy a VTR, but that would mean sitting with a near standard car (and investing money to get it to a sellable standard) with a few months whilst i saved up enough money. Then i'd spend it all on a new car.. and have no money.
The idea of putting lots of effort in, and basically upgrading every part along the way to a full VTR conversion really appeals to me. It doesnt make financial sense.. but it gives me a reason to go to work every day.. and it gives me something to do when i'm not at work. Plus it's a more rewarding way to get to and from work. So essentially i think keeping the car vastly improves my life. I found as soon as i thought about selling the car i didn't love it anymore, it never got washed and i drove it like i hated it.
Anyway that's all changed.
Mind you, if i wasn't expecting to be earning enough money to do all this to my car.. and i didn't have enough spare time then i would just sell up.
Just consider keeping it and having a mental project :D

Yeh, it's the subtle things that count though ;)
Vt kit should be fun :) at the moment i'm just putting off sanding it all down. Not sure whether i should do right back to plastic or just take the clear coat layer off. I'm thinking back to plastic..

ooooh... should smarten up the front end a little (is smarten even a word??? if it is it's a very strange word..)
Will replace the passenger side (which is chipped from my numerous attempts to open the unit) and also the drivers side which was full of water when i bought the car.. and has no silvery lining.. so it looks all dull and crappy.
So.. should look nice when they arrive.. either saturday.. or more likely some time middle of next week. I hate bank holidays, and living in a place delivery vans can NEVER find...
Next on the list has to be a front VT bumper. It'd be nice to work on something for a bit..
aah.. and i have some lowering springs to pay for.. That's me spent for another fortnight.. but next payday i should have at least a hundred quid free.... :D cant wait...

Nice to see another flat arch shame you're going for the vt kit but should look quite nice in the end. Was just going to reccomend the smoked indicators rather than spraying them yourself ;)
Have a look at a few other flat arches that have converted to vt kit's... I believe willsy did a guide I may be mistaken.

I read through all willsy's thread quite early on. What an amazing car.. The amount of work put into it is amazing. I think i read the guide too.. said about cutting the rear quarter panels, using tiger seal etc.. Should be good fun to do :)
Just a shame there wasn't a little more in his thread about the 3 to 4 stud conversion.. i'd like to be a little more clued up on that before i try it..
Smoked indicators should be good. Basically i needed some new ones at it was.. one was cracked lots where i'd tried (and failed) to prise the lense off.. and the other had a massive crack on the inside.. which had let loads of water in leading to the silver finish to come off. Means the indicators really let down the front end..
Should all be good in the end :)
Also had a play round with some black vinyl i had lying around.. and made some B pillar stickers. Think i may buy some proper ones at some point as i like the look.
Anyway, thanks for taking an interest :y:

Yeh i think you're right.. I wasn't really sure what to do to sort it.. i didnt think spraying the lense black would look too good.. but the smoked things should be pretty nice..
Anyway.. an update :(

I had a bit of a crash yesterday. Nice, sunny, dry road.. on my way home from work. I was listening to reggae, just driving home relatively slowly.
I was going down a short bit of narrow country road, just enough room to get a car and a bus through, and being very conscious of this fact i always keep to the side of the road..
I went into a bend at about 40.. which should have been a comfortable speed for the bend. However, my outer tyres ran into loads of gravel that had collected at the side of the road. The back end slid out, i over corrected it and the car span round the other way. For a moment it looked like i would hit nothing. Then i hit a wall. This more or less stopped the car.
I quickly got out of the road and stopped in a nearby layby to assess the damage.

http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i168/gsavill90/P8241232.jpg
Not too bad tbh.. I was very lucky that A. There were no cars coming, otherwise i'd be dead. and B. That there was a layby that i eventually ended up in.. otherwise the car would have been a write off for sure.
Considering I've got new indicators coming and a VT bumper is on the cards it's only the wing that needs sorting out. I'll have a go myself before giving in and taking it to a bodyshop (Some time next year)
Very lucky to be able to drive away from that really. It kinda showed me how stuff just happens.. And i have to say i feel a lot less safe in corners now than i did..
Anyway.. about half an hour after this incident me and some friends went to a show at york dragway. It was a 106 vs Golf GTi drag competition with 106 owners club.. crossed with a VW beetle vs mini drag thing.
Got some picks of my car.. which ended up being parked in the show concourse! :panic:

Yeh i was very lucky tbh. Scared the shit out of me..
I think i was more concerned about being in the middle of the road and there being something coming. Mind you i think i've only driven through gravel at the edge of the road twice now.. that i can remember.

Ok so i had a go at repairing the front wing. Can see why you should leave this kinda stuff to professionals tbh.. but i got it in the right shape at least (it was bent before) This means i've been able to fit the new indicators..
Ok first i took off the grill, front bumper and wing..
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i168/gsavill90/P8271273.jpg
almost posted a picture of the induction kit there
Ok.. i think it looks straight enough..
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i168/gsavill90/P8271276.jpg
passenger side indicator fitted.. looks pretty good..
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i168/gsavill90/P8271278.jpg
Wing looks a lot better than before. Not at all perfect, or even good, but it looks a lot less like it's just been in a crash.. It's also in slightly better shape, so the indicator could be fitted.
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i168/gsavill90/P8271280.jpg
There is a very big gap at the top of the indicator in between the lens and the wing. Looking at how the wing and bonnet meet up on each side i think it's probably due to the fact that i've mounted the headlight at the wrong angle. I'll have a look at it when i fit my VT bumper. However, if the wing is all bent out of shape i'll go down the new panel route.. At the moment i'm considering just fillering it to a smooth finish.
Front wing on ebay.. new.. primed.. 35 quid delivered.

I think mirror caps will be top of the list as soon as the VT kit is all sorted. I'm planning on getting the bodywork more or less sorted by November. Then when i'm home again in March i'll sort out everything else. Starting with a rear axle, full four stud conversion and some alloys. Then it'll look the part.. and be able to stop a little better.
I'm considering some carbon mirror caps..

It's been a nice read. I have to say I like the direction the car is going in, looks a similar style to mine. Although I find it creepy that we crashed on the same day, and both needed a new driver's side wing.
You should really consider investing a bit of moolah into a simple compressor & spray gun, you have good reason to if you're going to spray the VT kit, bumpers and your wing. Primer, basecoat, thinners and lacquer all come to a damn sight less than endlessly buying rattle cans!
If you need any parts then let me know, I'm always to be found hanging around near scrapyards!

That is very weird...
I may consider buying a compressor and spray gun. I've got a small compressor already i used to do airbrush art for school. Don't think that would be up to the job though. Money is really tight though..
I'll look into it, and see if i have enough. I've been working 6 day weeks, so i can spend on my car :D
Got some really nice plans for the front VT bumper.. I'm planning on buying it thursday from a scrapyard. Haven't been yet, but there's a really big one near me, and the amount of idiots that drive VTR's around here.. there's bound to be a few bumpers kicking around.
Anyway my plan is to smooth over the fog lights and toe eye hole thing.. then cut out all the slats to make a wide mouth thing. I've only seen one other car like it on here.. looks really funky.
That'll be the next fortnight.. getting the kit ready for spraying. Then it's trying to find some persian red paint...
Ooh and if you happen to stumble across any mirror caps anywhere.. let me know :)

I'm thinking of going the cheapest way possible this time around, then when i get back home in march and i have money i can always take the car to a bodyshop. It probably looks like i'll do it with spray cans.. i cant really afford £200+ for the compressor and spray gun. I'm only getting paid around £700 a month, and the majority of that goes into saving or onto petrol and insurance.
I'm a bit overwhelmed by the paints4u website.. i can deal with the primer, colour, clear coat kind of painting.. but when it's which colour primer, then which colour basecoat, then the colour, then lacquer then hardening compound... it starts to look like something i cant do..
Maybe if i sold my guitar...
Evolution4589
31st August 2008, 13:33
It's far simpler than that, and in the long run is way cheaper than spraycans.
Put simply, you need grey primer (plastic primer for the VT kit... obvs...), you need your colour code of paint (thinned out), then leave it, and spray over with (thinned) lacquer. I guarantee it will go horribly wrong the first time and you won't have enough thinners, but it really does work out cheaper in the long run. If you can spray with a rattle can, you can spray with a compressor and you don't need to spend £200 on one- I got my entire setup for £70!

ooh sounds a lot more like my price range... I've got £40 holiday pay i could claim at work.. Minus 20% tax mind..
I have a compressor at the moment, but i'm not too sure how good it would be. It was for small airbrush things.. i used it in my art A level at school. I don't think it would have enough power for a spray gun. It's 1/5 horsepower.. i've been told you need at least 1.5
Might have a look on ebay :)
Do you know vaguely how much it would cost for me to get paint mixed up by a local bodyshop?
This might be a bit weird.. but that bodyshop you mentioned above is where my neighbour used to work :D

Just had a look on ebay at spray guns and compressors in my kind of price range and i found this
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Oil-Less-Diaphragm-Air-Compressor-And-Mini-Spraygun-Kit_W0QQitemZ290256560078QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item2 90256560078&_trkparms=72%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C24 0%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
Looking at the compressor, it's actually less powerful than the one i already have. I noticed that the spray gun is a "mini" spray gun..
So i searched for a mini spray gun and found this..
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Spraymaster-H-Pressure-Mini-Gravity-Side-Feed-Spraygun_W0QQitemZ290256560075QQcmdZViewItem?hash= item290256560075&_trkparms=72%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C24 0%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

Right, the last thing you want is a gravity-feed minigun because you can't angle the gun properly when you're spraying unless your stuff is dead level. If you want to do it on a hard surface, I recommend a suction feed gun.
This is your best bet.
2hp compressor (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/rockworth-24-litre-2hp-oil-lube-air-compressor_W0QQitemZ250289366883QQcmdZViewItem?has h=item250289366883&_trkparms=72%3A984|39%3A1|66%3A2|65%3A12|240%3A131 8&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14)
And this is the gun I use...
Suction feed gun (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SUCTION-FEED-SPRAY-GUN-WITH-750cc-POT-1-5mm-NOZZLE_W0QQitemZ140260599304QQcmdZViewItem?hash=it em140260599304&_trkparms=72%3A984|39%3A1|66%3A2|65%3A12|240%3A131 8&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14)
Hope that helps.
Where I get my paint, half a litre of paint is around £20- but before you go mental at the price, you have to mix it with thinners, which are miles cheaper. Your best bet is probably around 2:1 with thinners, so twice the amount of thinners- a litre is around £9 where I get mine. So basically you get a litre and a half of paint for around £30. That's a bargain!
5 litres of thinners (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Car-Paint-THINNERS-2K-Acrylic-and-Basecoat-5lt-Size_W0QQitemZ270268957592QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item 270268957592&_trkparms=72%3A984|39%3A1|66%3A2|65%3A12|240%3A131 8&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14)
As it happens I've been paying over the odds.
Hope that helps you on your quest! I would recommend 3 spray guns, 3 of the ones I linked you to would work out nicely. One for primer, one for paint, one for lacquer. That way you don't have to worry about contaminating each one.

I might look into some MK2 rear lights.. i'd maybe mask off the white bit and spray the rest black. Not too dark, but darker than what i have now. Either that or i'll just darker what i have now a little.
There should be lots of VT kit around i think.. VTR's do tend to get crashed.. and there are very few people into this kind of modifying around my area.
Also.. i have a very strong feeling the compressor will find its way into my life :) Getting paid on thursday..
I think i might disclose my full financial situation so that people can understand my budget at the moment..
Essentially i have saved £700 so far.. and by november 1st i need a further £700. That means £175 every fortnight (paypacket)
I have an awful job.. getting paid £5.04 an hour doing 30-38 hours a week. This gives me around 300-400 a fortnight.. Usually closer to 300. Minus 100 for petrol and insurance.. and i have 200 left minimum.
Needless to say when i only work 4 shifts a week i have no money for the car.. but when i work 5 (or even 6) shifts a week i have a little money to spend :)
Of course this isn't counting the pay i'm about to get this thursday... and after working a 6 shift week and a 5 shift week.. i should have a little extra to spend.
So i think on thursday i'll try and buy the equipment to paint the car, and the bumpers this fortnight, then try and get the paint bought from then on.
Plus i can earn 15 quid washing and polishing my parents cars.. and a tenner for mowing the lawn. It's old school money making :D

hehe.. item number one begins with "compr" item number two is two words.. "spr" and "gu" and item number three.. is a hose..
Item number 4 is a bitch and means it gets from wherever it is now to my house..
I work at mcdonalds.. every day at work all i think about it getting a new job.. The work is awful, the pay is awful, but the people i work with are amazing, so i stay... When i get back in March most of the people i like at work will have left, so i'll look to get a better job. Maybe working in a bank or something :)
Anything that's more than the pathetic 5 pound an hour i'm getting now would be ideal..
Anyway... should be good when it all arrives :) and if my calculations are correct.. £50 to insurance, £50 to petrol, and £100 to pay for my ebay expenditure off of a £400 cheque (i've been working hard :P) That gives me enough for a bit of a scrap yard daytrip...
sorry i type so much.

HAHA.. to be honest a long haired, pail skinned 18 year old that i am wouldn't dare do anything of the sort :P i'm even scared at the idea of talking to people i don't know on my own. So i have a friend coming with me :)
Body parts are this fortnight.. i'll get the front bumper, and all the VT kit smoothed etc exactly how i want it. The rear bumper will get the tow hook recess smoothed out.. and the front bumper will have a widemouth thing.. and the foglights will be smoothed over. Today i also fibroblast up the recesses where the "vtr" badges would normally go on the door skins. This has meant that the side bump strips will be smooth, and not have the usual texture. This has lead me to think about colour coding the bumpstrips. However, i think colour coded front and rear bumpers would look a bit over the top on my car.
Then the fortnight after that my budget shrinks.. i start selling more stuff on ebay.. i start washing my parents cars more and i buy some paint.. and get the VT kit painted and fitted. Hopefully it will look a lot like a VT model by the time i go away in November.

Nowt wrong with long hair... :P
Are you sure about removing the rear tow hook? You should consider just making a little plastic house for it to live in, because it can be invaluable- especially 'oop North'.
Colour code all the way, I've seen a Wicked Red VTR fully colour coded and it looked absolutely gorgeous. Yours would no doubt look similarly nice- if it's a rare colour, show it off.
Failing that, add some BMW Sapphire Black to your basecoat shopping list. ;)
Tip for parents' cars- wash them, get a mate to throw a bucket of shit on them, then wash them again. £60/day ftw.

The only problem with my rare colour... is it's pink :)
With the tow hook.. i've only ever needed a tow hook on my car twice. Once was when i was driving on a field near my house.. in the rain, and i got stuck. The second time was when it was snowing.. and i decided to drive on a field.. then i got well and truely stuck in a bog. On the road.. i don't think they're too important. You may prove me wrong with your experience though :)
I think i'll go for colour coded side strips, but black bumpers. I'm going for the dark/smoked kind of look.. Black ultraleggas are on the list in about 6 months time.

Picture the scene.
2am, driving rain, very very dark roads, doing 40mph.
Came over the crest of a hill, and there were no signs whatsoever, none, zero, zilch. Right over the hill was the end of the road.
I went into a ditch at about 30/40mph because the brakes locked up.
A lorry pulled me out by my towing eye. It saved my life. :y:
Black Ultraleggeras are fookin' gorgeous. I also like where your car is headed.
And your hair is too long then, I've never had a problem yet, just above t'shoulders!
gsavill90

I was driving a road recently.. going about 40, didn't know the road at all. The road appeared to go straight on. It was infact a 90 degree bend and what i thought was the road going straight on was a farm track. Try stopping at 40 on gravel. That was fun :)
I see you point tbh... Oh i'll keep the rear tow hook :) but the front one.. well that has to go so i can fit the VT bumper :( I guess it's things like the tow hooks that are there not because you think you need them.. but because you do need them.
The car is heading somewhere nice i think :) I want to take aspects from the smoothed euro look, like a smoothed tailgate and smoothed front bumper. However, i also want to keep performance in mind, and practicality, as in, not lowered really low and no big heavy wheels. I'm planning on getting in to track days.. so that's taken into consideration.
There is a lot of thought going into the car at the moment.
The hair.. for me is at just the wrong length.. it's at just the length where i cant tie it up.. but it ALWAYS gets in the way whenever i try to do something technical. I can fit an exhaust.. or do anything lying on my back.. but when it's leaning over something.. even sanding my VT kit.. by hair annoys the hell out of me..
That reminds me.. i was driving down to mcdonalds tonight (the one i work at) to meet a mate.. and i happened to be following another mate into the carpark. The little road leading to the carpark has a small hill, and 90 degree bend at the bottom. The tarmac on this small hill is ultra fine and in the wet you have no grip. My mate in front of me has a ford escort and is planning on driving to scotland in about 4 hours. At the bottom of the hill he just slid forwards into the curb, bending the passenger side front wheel right back so he could barely move the car. The wishbone arm was bent all out of shape. I was right behind him and he was going like 10mph... i managed to stop though.
Anyway, thought that might be of interest to someone:)
Verbal diahorrea :)

No.. he got a big metal bar and bent the wishbone a bit back into shape. He'd going to drive to scotland in it anyway.. just he wont be able to turn left very sharply.
I'm just trying not to think about the possible consequences... But tbh i've had my fair share of driving dangerous fords ridiculously long distances.. they always seem to cope :) My old fiesta started crabbing really badly once.. at about 20-40mph it would have this amazing shake from side to side that just made you feel ill... It also started to shake violently at 60-75mph. The shaking was in pulses.. and it made the doors on the drivers side rattle so badly. It was awful. It turned out the rear tyre sidewalls had collapsed during an over enthusiastic country lane sessions.. also the front wishbones were loose.. and some other things that i forgot. It was a heap.. but me and some friends drove it from leeds to london and back all in one day. ( i must stress this is before i knew what a state the car was in, all i knew was it wobbled).
We found out at around 60-80 the vibration was awful.. and it meant my friend in the rear seat was slowly suffocated by his seatbelt. However.. at around 90-100mph the vibration stopped. I loved my fiesta..
I must also say that this was months ago, and my driving has since changed a shed load. Being stopped by the police a few times made me think about things, and i'm now a lot more careful in a car. I don't drive 100 on motorways anymore, and haven't since the fiesta. 56mph FTW!

Ok. As well as all this money spending, i did a bit of work to the VT kit.. Smoothing out the badges. After fibreglassing it needed some filler.
I've got it to the stage where it only needs sanding down one more time to be perfect. I think:

looks like you're coming along quite nicely. As for the tacho, I believe only a 1.1 sx tacho will fit and then dependent on model and age the tacho may not even move :n:
Plus there is a large possibilty that the speedo will be out and you will need to get this checked by a local garage :y: (more money)
I have had my 1.1sx tacho sitting in a cuboard for a while as tbh I couldn't be fussed with removing the wheel and airbag (done it before and it was a tad annoying, however I did it on a wrote off sax) Just a little advice there.
Btw I really do like the red lip on the steelies (I've probably said that already) but it has inspired me whilst I save up for my four stud conversion :y:

I've been told that GTI gauges fit in to 1.1 106's... so i think i'm just going to stick my fingers in my ears, hum loudly and hope for the best :)
Not that i have a choice :)
The red lip on the steelies is great as long as you're moving. Plus it looks a hell of a lot better than hub caps :) I keep getting the "you need to buy some alloys mate" comment. If only they knew :)
Also just got home with the bumper. It is in persian red.. looks like it's been resprayed that colour by the previous owner.

Hopefully they will fit and work. If not i'll always be able to sell them on again :)
Been working on the front bumper.. i can tell it's going to take me hours and hours..
I've almost smoothed over the toe eye flap thing. And i've started on one of the foglight holes. I've cut out the plastic covers from my 1.1 front bumper and fibreglassed them in place so i have a curve to work on, rather than trying to construct my own curve.
Also finished the side bumpstrip smoothing. I say finished, i'll probably spend another hour on the tomorrow.
Might get some kind of flexible sealant/primer for the filler. I'm hoping such a product exists. After a coat of filler primer i should be able to see how smooth everything is.
Anyway i'm waffling.

i think it'd gunna be quite easy tbh.. I'd imagine it's pretty much the same as fitting the standard bumper. It's a little fiddly, but not that hard at all. The only thing i think gets in the way is the front toe hook, because in the other models they have screw in tow eyes..

luks gd, random question do you know how to spray! havent bin reading the thread word for word as theres alot :P
if your using a proper spray gun i find, a light half trigger coat first to seal over the primer, 1 full trigger coat at 6inches and 1 full trigger coat at 8inches away, then a light dust over literally quarter trigger.
tends to be a half on half off technique when ur moving down the pannel. so you should always be going half in the bit you have just dont half new.
oh always do your edges first :D
sorry if you do know how to spray properly though. x

Use some coloured primer to see if the VT kit smoothing has worked out OK, that's what I always do- tells you what needs sanding and what needs filling.

I've got a bit of experience with airbrush painting, in the fine art A level capacity. I know the vague principal of it all.. as in.. work in lines accross.. keeping the air on all the time, blowing paint from before you hit the panel right to when you've passed it to stop big blobs of paint at either end. urrm.. Even light coats.. keep the distance.
I worked with a dual action gravity fed little tiny thing.
Now i've got a suction fed dual action spray gun on its way so i'm guessing i'll be able to carry across all the principals.
But in short no i don't know how to spray.
I think your advice will come in useful. I've heard something about that light dusting as a top coat to prevent pooling in metallic paints or something like that. But anyway.. cheers for the advice :y:

I'm pretty happy with the side bump strips.. i think they're almost spot on. The front bumper however.. looks like it's going to take me years..
I think i'll struggle with smoothing over the foglights. At the moment i've fibreglassed the plastic covers from my 1.1 bumper into the holes and filled a bit of the gap with fibreglass and filler. I'm very cautious about the filler.. because i've heard it can just crack and fall out.. so i'm sticking to about 3mm depth.
My main problem is getting the curve of the bumper right.. is this a case of just spending hours sanding until you get it perfect or is there an easier way?
I'm prepared to just spend the next two weeks sanding :D
I'm thinking of getting a can of filler sealing primer stuff from halfords so i can see how even it is. I may post a picture of my progress at some point..
I cut out the plastic grill today using a dremmel thing with a sanding bit attached. And a hacksaw.
I need more fibreglass resin, i got paid yesterday and i'm 67 pence overdrawn. It's time to sell some stuff on ebay again :D
As usual i'm waffling.. :wall:

It does look tons better. It's lower.. wider.. and i think it sticks out further..
The only thing is if you're not fitting the VT arches and the whole kit you have to adjust the side brackets. Basically i think this means fit the bumper normally.. measure how far it sticks out from the front wings.. then cut away that much from the mounting bracket. Probably a pretty easy job if you use fibreglass..
If you look back to my first page there's a guy with an orange 5 door that he put a VT front bumper to. That car looks pretty smart.
It will all make sense if you take off your standard bumper and have a look at it all, and see how it fits on etc...

Ebay mate.. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CITROEN-SAXO-INDICATOR-SET-SMOKED-96-99-BRAND-NEW_W0QQitemZ150274943618QQcmdZViewItem?_trksid=p3 286.m20.l1116
They're pretty good quality. The bulb holder that comes with them is shocking.. so i just used the holders from the original indicators.
With some silver bulbs i think it'll look pretty funky. You just get some orange reflection at the moment which isn't too great.

eBay also sell the chrome bulbs you speak of for about a fiver, well worth the outlay!! No more fried eggs!
Keep up the good work G, look forward to seeing this come together.

Might have a look :)
The thing is a fiver is everything to me at the moment.. I spent two weeks wages in a day! After putting a load of it into savings mind.
I'm resisting the temptation to post pictures of my progress on the front bumper so far.. I got some more fibre glass resin today.. and some 120 grit wet and dry...
It's taking AGES!
On the plus side i've almost finished decorating my bedroom.. just needs a little tidy up and a hoover and it'll be finished :D
Two months it's taken me!

cheers mate might av to invest in gettin them in a while lol. another question smoking the headlights? hows it done and how do you stick the glass back together and with what?
Basically... remove the bulbs.. and stick it in the oven at about 150 degrees.
Leave it there for 10 minutes and take it out. Then go around where the glass and plastic meets (where the glue is) and run a knife around it. This makes the glue come apart more cleanly. I didn't do this.. i just prised it apart with a screwdriver.. Try not to crack the lenses. You don't have to be too careful tbh.
Then when the lense has come off.. DONT touch it. And dont get any dust or anything in it..
The plastic bit that you're left with has two bits of silver plastic. One is the reflector and is stuck down, the other is the bit you want to paint and is free to be removed. Take it out and paint it however you like. I just slapped some hammerite on... Then allow it to dry (i didn't, i needed the car :D)
Then i put both parts of the headlamp back into the oven for 10 minutes to soften the glue.
Then press the two parts together and it should be reasonably well sealed. Mine dont fog up so i'd imagine they're alright. However, if you want to do the job well i'd used a bit of silicone sealant just to make sure the seal is 100%. However, it takes years to dry and as i said i needed my car..
It's a pretty easy and VERY effective thing to do..
The indicator lenses.. trying to do those yourself.. forget it. Ten minutes in the oven, tried to cut out as much of the glue as possible and all i managed to do was chip away at the lense.
Anyway.. hope that helped.

Ok.. a sneak preview of tomorrows update...
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i168/gsavill90/P9091316.jpg
I've spent my entire evening doing it.. but what did i do???
Those are the VTS dials i bought on ebay. Pretty funky.. and i know for a fact that the speedo works dead on. Just got to get the tacho working now.. however i know which wire from the ECU goes to the rev counter.. and i know which pin on the dials is the input for the rev counter.. so it's just a bit of wiring tomorrow morning and it will all be 100% sorted.
Now for some funky blue transelite thingys..
gsavill90
9th September 2008, 15:20
Ok i got the VTS clocks in the car.. and working.. 20%..
The fuel guage works perfectly. The speedo works perfectly. The mileage counter works perfectly, and i adjusted the new clocks to read 54 thousand miles (my mileage) instead of 107 (VTS's mileage). It's kind of scary how easy it was to just loose 50,000 miles...
However, the rev counter, and water temp guages dont work. I never expected the oil guage to do anything..
Rev counter.. today i spend the day trying to figure out the circuit board and ECU wiring. I've deduced the input for the tacho on the guages is one of two (or both) pins on one of the input plugs.
I read that there is a green wire - number 625 - coming out of the ECU which is the signal wire for the tachometer. I spend a while.. and counld find any wire with this number.
I'm going to have a look in the max power manual thingy.. apparently that tells you how to wire in an after market "2 fast 2 furious" rev counter :P
The Water temp guage i'm not too worried about just yet.. My original guages just had a water temp warning light.. so i'm hoping this wire links up to something on the new dials.
Anyway.. some pictures..

http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i168/gsavill90/P9091322.jpg
Don't look too bad.
I took the green filter out of the clock so it shines white instead of green. I'll try and get the whole thing to light up blue at some point..

Oh yes... and whilst taking everything out.. i fell at the first step. Getting the airbag out was a right pain. The bolts were siezed.. and in trying to undo them i rounded them off.
Out came the drill.. and after an hour of "careful" drilling into the airbag unit it came free.
So no more airbag.. not that it worked anyway.. the airbag light has flashed constantly since i bought the car.

good progress matey keep up the good ideas!!
Two things you should be aware of first... If the airbag bolts are stuck like mine were.. say goodbye to your airbag :D
Second is if it's a MK1 the dash it lit by white bulbs.. not LED's. On the Mk1 dials the faces are coloured to give the white lights.. not the bulbs. However, on Mk2 dials i believe the light colour comes from the LED's.. so if the LED's are changed.. the colour the dials shine are changed. If you want to change the colour of the Mk1 dials you need one of those lockwood dial kits off ebay..
The removal of the dials.. now i dont have to take my airbag out.. takes about 5 minutes.
First.. unplug the battery so the airbag doesnt explode in your face.. then after ten minutes begin.
Take out the airbag (my bolts were siezed.. and i rounded them off.. so i drilled them out- not recommended)
Then you unbolt the steering wheel.. unbolt a little plastic ring that cancels the indicators.. then you can unbolt the indicator stalk thing.. and take that off.
Now you're free to take out the dial surround and then the dials. Only thing it.. when you're removing the dials be VERY careful of the metal on the steering column.. i scratched the plastic cover of my dials doing this.. :wall:
Anyway.. it's an easy job.. there's a guide on here somewhere.. with pictures..

I believe so yes :( The Mk1 dash units have little bulbs.. and analogue mileage things.. and the Mk2 have LED's and digital mileage thingys..
It's quite easy to take out the dials though.. so long as you've got various torx tools then you'll be fine.
I think lockwood dial sets are the way forward.. it's just they're quite a bit of money for what they are :(

Yeh it'd be easy enough to do... All i need is a new seal and mechanism for the sunroof.. and two winders from the scrapyard. It's just having the effort to do it :)
I'd rather just stick the sunroof down. I don't really use it.. and all it does is leak.
The rev counter will be an interesting one. I've shelved it until i get my hands on a haynes manual so i can try to work out all the wiring diagrams.
Should be interesting.

Yeh. I think the plates would be alright where i live, the police seem a little docile to be honest.. Also i only really use my car a few miles a day to get to work and back. The problem would be when i travel places, which i do quite often. I think it's better safe than sorry though..

I figure there are a number of things to do when you're stopped by the police. Number one is get out of the car as soon as possible. Make sure they cant look down on you :P
Then... ask them if they want to breathalise you :D How many drunks would be that ballsy :D
I asked this.. and the copper said i could be breathalised if i wanted to be.. so i said yes, because i've never been done before. Got to keep my tube as a "present from the north yorkshire police".
How do i get into the boot.. good question.. if it's urgent.. then i take down the rear seats and do it with my fingers.. I'm going to get around to getting a popper at some point.
The spoiler was on the car when i got it. Don't think it goes with the styling of the saxo tbh.
I think it's bolted on and it looks like it's been glued on at some point as well. I'd imagine this is because the bolts have loosened so it wobbles now :( Kinda just want to take it off.. but for one it'll be impossible, and second i'd then have two big holes to fill :)

anyways...whats the plans for finishing the bumper? if i get a black VT front bumper you want to do that for me :P lol
