Done my headgasket yesterday on the vtr as well as a small engine service ie new oil + coolant spark plugs oil filter timing belt and fan belt and cleaned the head and inlet.
When i was tightening the last rocker bolt it sheared off so the stud had to be ripped out and a new bolt in its place.
After flushing everything a filled it with oil and bled the system.
10 hour later and nerly a box of desposibal latex golves I took it a test run to hear a whining noise what sugests to me the timing belt is to tight.

The car drives great, idles normal and seems to be pulling better so am gona slacking the fan belt first.

What do you guys think timing belt or alternator?

ps 9 hours is a good time for my first attempt especialy with a 4 brancher as these are half turn spanner efforts and I crapped my self when the bolt sheared I thought the head had to come off again lol

Dis the alternator belt and start it, if it doesnt whine anymore its the alternator, if it does its the cambelt 2 tight but dont be tempted to ignore it, as a bearing somewhere will die for sure, at worst the cam-belt will snap.
