16v cam timing

Standard 16v cam timing is it at its optimum? are there any gains in swinging the timing at all?


certain ginger wonder has done it and said engine seemed to go alot better

erm ryan not chatted in while so better update you:

GTi got sold on, turbo stuff being sold on as no time to sort it all properly how I want.

Now 16vin the quiksilver lol! Only reason I am asking about swinging the timing is gabbastard did it with some weirld good results, just wondering if its worth experimenting with it or leave it as is

Use the standard locking points on the cams, but use a dial gauge to find TDC rather than the locking hole on the flywheel.

Using a dial gauge indicator to measure where tdc is rather than using the locking hole ;) as this is a more accurate way of doing it.

at TDC have the intake 60thou still open but on the closing ramp and the exhaust 45thou open and on the opening ramp.
