my car kept over heating - heating up to near there red

it heats up and stays on about 3quartres of the way up on temperature gauge :S , so i replaced the water pump - cambelt - aux belt - thermostat - new radiator ,new radiator sensor, but its still warming up the same temperature - also i can say the radiator van doesnt come on- so i just put on a manual switch to keep in constant running while the cars running - but its still on 3/4 of the way up and just wondering could the temperature sensor make this do that or will it be the head gasket ??
but car doesnt have white smoke also the oil all looks fine :S:S , :bump:

try it without a thermostat in it for a while. i got one from a citroem garage and it went within 2 weeks. probably best to get a compression check done. you dont always get water in the oil if the gasket has gone.

yer i was thinking about taking the thermostat out but cause its new i thought it should be fine. um thinks its reached red once- but that was before i done all the parts to it- but i think it still to high :(

does the fan kick in?

who replaced the thermo etc? was it the correct temp at 82 roughly on saxos? if its a higher grade one then that could bea problem. VTS's run hotter then 1.1s and 1.4s so if your previous car was one of those your probably used to that..

tbh if the fan doesnt kick in or sometimes does and sometimes doesnt it could be the fan switch not working,

but go for a long drive and see if you can feel the fan kick in (normally you hear it etc) if it does at least 3 times its probably allright, if the warning lights on have you checked theirs no trapped air in the system? when you fitted the rad was it bled?

etc

this should be in the problems area on the forum also...

I have a 2000 VTS too, mine sits just over half way when I'm driving but as soon as I sit in traffic or just chill when Im cruising it shoots up to 3/4's - always has done and the same with my mk1 vts I had before.

But whilst we are on the subject my top hose from the radiator to the thermostat has just split - now its over overheating!!

if it spilt its guts (water) everywhere you cant just top up with water when putting a new one on, you have to bleed it, search for my guide in the engine area
