didnt think they sold seals for the vts mate only though they were for 8vs, thought you had to use like gasket seal for them?

they dont sell them
well they do, just you have to buy the cam covers off them as well, only way you get them as they are pre fitted lol
i used headgasket and realised that it was pissing oil all over, could of seriously fucked my car if i didnt check and have just a clean bay lol
only way you could do it i think it if you got both surfaces and had them sanded so both surfaces are 100% flat, but thats more of a fuck on that its worth imo

RTV sealant.
Clean covers using a craft knife so they are bare metal, degrease surface.
Wipe oil over the cam ladders so that the sealant doesn't stick to them.
Using a sealant gun apply a good bead of sealant to the cam covers.
Place the cam covers in position, do not push them down or you will squish the sealant and the metal corners will touch the ladders.
Once the sealant is set(at least 6 hours, if not 24) you can tighten the bolts and this should squash the nice bead of sealant onto the ladders and seal perfectly.
Doing it this way means you can take them off easily in future.

Wouldnt it be easier to leave them off for the 24hours so they set.

no because if you let them cure off the car the height of the sealant won't be the same all the way round, whereas if you place them on the ladders the sealant will be the same thickness all the way round ;)

Cool i will give it a go tomoz night mate. Will engine degreaser work to clean them up. How thick does the sealant need to be

yeah, just use a little and wash it off afterwards, don't want degreaser in the engine :S
Needs to be a good bit thicker than the metal spacers where the bolts go through ;)

im sorry to hijack your thread mate but its sort of relevant lol
im thinking about taking my covers off to polish them, once taken off do the original seals become useless and will i too have to get some instant sealant stuff or will they be ok as they are?
thanks guys
