Without resorting to dropping a VTS lump in (which will total £800 once bought and fitted) whats the next biggest bhp per pound mod for the blacktop once race exhaust and 421 manifold have been done? Im toying with a fairly wild cam but don’t want to swap to standalone management yet so will need to run within the scope of the existing ecu. I need the power from 4K to 6K as it spends most of its time in this zone when competiting. Mid range etc isn’t really needed.

you havnt mentioned having an induction kit?

also, arent 4-1 manifolds better for higher revs

it retains the standard induction with a BMC foam filter. Yes the 4-1's are better, but a 421 came up for cheap £££

Don't know how much it would cost or even if anyone has done it, but how about supercharging it!

most likely well out of my budget.

cams would be the next step or you could play with diff induction kit? maybe get rid of one of the lights and have it positioned there

speak to James on here, he has a mark 1 vtr and its cammed without a remap (i think its also had head work)

Decent head job with a catcam 646, s1 inlet and a remap of your standard ecu

S1 rallye head should be a straight swop.

Instead of an R box fit one from a S or 106 rallye/Xsi, shorter ratios!

are they that much different? (im fitting 13" wheels and 175/50 tyres for the sprints to get the gearing down also)

from what ive read some people have said the diff is weaker in the 1.1 boxes comapared to the s

i would look for a rallye box tbh but they're rare to find
