just took the car for a spin, about a mile from the house i had to turn around so i did 3 point turn and the car cut out! thought i stalled it but tried to start it again and it was dead, so got my mate to come and give me a jump start! got it goin and about 10 yards away it cut out again, looked in engine and saw the alternator belt had snapped! shit has this cause any damage seein as the car has been running after it snapped?

nope, will just be a flat battery. get a enw belt on and start it with some jump leads and give it a good run to charge up.

yeah, its simple mate. just undo the tensionor, fit new belt and tighten it back up. you can even get the belt on without undoing the tensionor if the allen bolt head is fucked or its too tight.

its not too hard tbh , slacken off but dont remove the 2 bolts holding the belt tensioner wheel , thats the small wheel in the middle , 13mm bolts one above the wheel and one below , next use an allen key to tighten the allen bolt at the very bottom of the tensioner , this will move the tensioner down as the allen bolt will push off the bottom 13mm bolt , once its right down as low as it will go fit the new belt around the alternator and the bottom pulley , make sure its sitting ok then loosen the allen bolt on the tensioner this will move the tensioner up tight with the belt , tighten it till there is about 5mm of play in the belt or so that u can give the belt a half twist , then tighten the 2 13mm bolts u loosend on teh tensioner , test it all moves ok using a 24mm socket on the bottom pulley , turn it a few times , if all ok jobs done , get a jump start and test it charges , easy peasy :p

like has been said, is really easy. Most parts are obvious that you need to remove or slacken.
