I was allways under the impression 1 litre of water = 1 kg. I dont think petrol weighs alot more than water, if at all. A saxo tank can hold 35ish litres not including the pipe, filler neck..

though petrol would weigh less than water for some reason

I'll save you the formula but petrol weighs about 0.72kg per litre.

So if your saxos got a 45 litre tank your talking 32.4kg or 5 stone for a full tank.

I didn't realise petrol was that much lighter than water. Interesting stuff. :)

10lb per gallon dont matter wether its water or petrol liquid is liquid
unless you count mercury(wich is classed as a liquid)

petrol weighs less than water, thats why it floats :y: you would need to get a weight measurement for a litre or something

Nah dude, every liquid has its own individual properties, petrol is less dense than water, alcohol is more so ;)

Like smith said, if theres a petrol/oil spill in a river the oil burns ontop of the water snice water is more dense, thus heavier, than the oil.
