first of all sorry if ive got thsi in the wrong section, but its to do with performance,
i really want to get a VTR ive been waiting since i passed, i have a 1.1i saxo at the moment but im 18 soon so want to upgrade,
i was wondering is there any difference in performance between the phase1 models and the phase 2, as ive seen the 0-60 for the phase 1 is 10.2 but the phase 2 is 9.4... ( autotrader technical)
all comments back much appreciated thanks.

You really wont notice a difference between the two standard cars.
IMO, find a low millage 2000 mk2, best shape, no cat on the manifold (just a pain come mot time if you want a de-cat) and its in the cheaper tax catagory

The 98bhp engine has slightly better fuel economy iirc..We worked out when i drove to the ring at 80mph pretty much all the way mine was turning over 43mpg's which is quite impressive..:)
The 98bhp models are abit quicker as 0-60's and top speeds show but when i played with my mates MK1 mine only edged away, nothing too drastic like..lol

thanks, so u woudl say the best one to get would be the phase 2 model ..
also does tht mean all phase 1 models are 90bhp and all phase 2 are 98bhp?

Nope its 2001+ that has the 98bhp engine (look for a three plug ecu and cat in manifold)

1 plug, black top rocker cover, cat under the car = 90bhp mk1
1 plug, grey top rocker cover, cat under the car = 90bhp mk2
3 plug, silver top rocker cover, cat in manifold = 98bhp mk2 2001+

the light on the front are different.
tbh even tho the series 2 is faster i would prefer the series 1.
